Q3 Are live event & stadium projects something that most small/medium AV businesses can compete in? Does this work favor ultra-specialized firms or can most AV firms do the work? Do most stadiums & mega-church designs go to consultants & then to BID? What are u seeing? #AVInTheAM
@chris_neto If I learned anything at #BLC2023, it’s that the bid market is TOUGH for #avtweeps. One top integrator says he wins maybe 1 of 10 bids—and then wonders if he’s overlooked something because he came in lowest. Profitability potential so much higher with negotiated jobs. #AVintheAM
@DanFerrisiEdit @chris_neto The RFP process is mostly broken. Companies rarely get what they want in the end, and the integrators rarely make money. It’s almost always a lose/lose situation. Yet it is maintained somehow by corporate process. #avintheam
@AVPhenom @DanFerrisiEdit @chris_neto It doesn't help when schools have policies that say jobs of a certain value have to go out to bud either. #AVintheAM
@_AVAP @DanFerrisiEdit @chris_neto The truth is the RFP process costs the customer time and money, onboarding new trades cost time and money, loss of business continuity costs time and money. This is why many universities do 3 year windows w/negotiated rates, minimizing cost. But even that has issues. #AVinTheAM
