#HamOntSnow Update: The City received approximately 25 cm of very heavy snow causing numerous downed trees, closed roads, and vehicles in the ditch. Lack of visibility and unsafe conditions caused staff to pause operations in localized areas for driver safety.
Crews are continuing to clear Class 1 and 2 roads and cycling lanes. Sidewalk clearing began at 5am as well as work to clear transit stops; a second round will be required. Additional contracted equipment was called in to assist across the City.
All City of Hamilton Facilities are expected to reopen with normal operating hours today with the exception of Senior Centres and HWDSB gym programs. Outdoor skating rinks will remain closed until further notice.
@cityofhamilton I’m not always happy with city plow and the sidewalks near me that are city owned but have to give shout out to person plowing road on Jacqueline Blvd this evening. Thank you!
@cityofhamilton This is my street in waterdown Again our street has not been plowed The bus was stuck this morning and still no one has come around - they cleared spring creek and left 4 ft of snow at the round about This is poor performance again
@cityofhamilton A swath of destruction left behind
@cityofhamilton pretty sure we won't be using the sidewalks around my neighbourhood until late may when the mountains at the corners have all melted.
@cityofhamilton Appreciate the extra help the City called in but is there screening or references done for this “extra” help? This is what I woke up to this morning - a mountain of snow and ice - yes, off the sidewalk BUT piled at the end of my walkway. #heartattack #hamontsnow
@cityofhamilton Its disgraceful the lack of cleanup. Especially for pedestrians at street corners.
