One of the best ways to stay healthy & avoid illness is daily exercise like cycling or walking. Car drivers need to remember roads are for walkers/cyclists too- and city planners need to see that just a Code isn’t enough to make it safer. We need separate cycle & walking lanes.
@devisridhar You are correct a Code isn't enough however it should be adhered to. It is against the Code for a cyclist to run a red light. It is against the code for a cyclist to cycle on the pavement. It is against the Code for a cyclist to have no lights in the dark. All ignored.
@devisridhar Will cyclist remember about it too? I mean that roads are not just for them? Half of cyclists in my city ignore traffic lights.
@devisridhar We have walking lanes. They are called paths.
@devisridhar Separate lanes for pedestrians & cyclists, where 1 lane for both, as a pedestrian I have had a number of near misses by cyclists not warning us of their presence.
@devisridhar We have walking lanes, they are called paths, deh!!!
@devisridhar Please remember horse riders too. They are very vulnerable.
@devisridhar They've spent a fortune introducing separate cycling lanes near us that no-one uses! In the process they reduced the number of lanes for vehicles so traffic is horrendous!
@devisridhar Car drivers are cyclists too,…just not at the point of your observation. It certainly helps to be both, for a contentious attitude.
@devisridhar @Ameireaganach I visited Cambridge (U.K.) last week. Brilliant to see a city with an emphasis on cycling/public transport. The attitude of drivers towards cyclists was noticeably more respectful compared to the experiences I have in my local area.
@devisridhar We walk on lanes called pavements but many car drivers and others think they places where they can park for free so we have to walk on a dangerous places called roads
