2 weeks ago@KitchenBee This is excellent news. It is devastating for children’s cognitive development and younger children and pregnant women are especially vulnerable, particularly those with malnutrition and other mineral deficiencies. Thank you sharing. ❤️

3 weeks ago@AnorexiaMyths Thank you. Yes, some very interesting ideas! ☺️

Elizabeth Roberts @docrobertsdiet
3 weeks ago@AnorexiaMyths There is some thinking that the hyperactivity is partly foraging behaviour and partly to maintain core temperature I understand. And so heat also helps reduce hyperactivity. Have you seen this happen? Are you able to share his other ideas?

Elizabeth Roberts @docrobertsdiet
3 weeks ago@AnorexiaMyths Interesting that quite so many do warm people up. And surprising that not more do. There is a researcher exploring this, Gutierrez, and also Sødersten at the Karolinska Institute. Research shows reduces post-meal anxiety in particular if I am not mistaken. 👍

Elizabeth Roberts @docrobertsdiet
a month ago@AgnesAyton Came across this paper today, and your hypothesis re increasing #anorexia and #eatingdisorders with increasing #upf, and noticed you are the author. Super read. 👏 I agree: odd that there is so little research into actual food and #eatingdisordersresearch 🤷♀️ #nova4 #inflammation

2 months ago@AnorexiaMyths *Great survival mechanism btw. I am moving a LOT more than usual = my people must be fleeing (likely due to a famine) = not a great time to be having a baby = lowered leptin = lowered fertility 4/

Elizabeth Roberts @docrobertsdiet
2 months ago@AnorexiaMyths AND leaner people (e.g., athletes) tend to have lower baseline leptin levels THEN maybe the two aren’t so different after all? 3/

Elizabeth Roberts @docrobertsdiet
2 months ago@AnorexiaMyths AND that most/many symptoms of anorexia are due to hypoleptinaemia (inc. restlessness/hyperactivity), AND "excessive” exercise in and of itself, even without weight or fat mass loss, leads to reduced leptin*… 2/

Elizabeth Roberts @docrobertsdiet
2 months ago@AnorexiaMyths IF one subscribes to the theory that weight/shape/body concerns are not a feature of anorexia, but rather an explanation for the otherwise inexplicable set in our understanding of the world (and anorexia STARTS with weight loss, most commonly from a diet)... 1/

2 months ago@AnorexiaMyths I’m not expressing an opinion on nasogastric feeding under restraint, just sharing a feeling about how desperately we need effective treatments for anorexia so that we can consign the practice to the past, along with surgically removing people’s stomachs for peptic ulcers. 🙏
