@engineering_bae Companies start the hiring process and then the company goes through layoffs, hiring freeze, budget changes, etc. In those cases, you see the role reposted the next quarter or half if financials change again.

@engineering_bae Sometimes organization needs/resources get reallocated and another team gets the position and the one that was interviewing has to cancel their search. Happened to my team when we were looking for candidates

@engineering_bae 1. The role could have been filled. 2. Companies will post roles they’re eventually gonna interview for but not quite yet so they’ll collect applicants in the meantime. 3. Budgets or priorities might change. 4. They may realize a different role/skills are needed more.

@engineering_bae Happened to me from Amazon — passed the interview and was waiting on the offer. They announced a hiring freeze the next day, in my case. I am glad that I hadn’t accepted, and quit my old job when they did that - would be worst. Still not great to have done all that for nothing

Several of my friends are job hunting and almost every one of them has had a role "cancelled" while they're mid interview process or after they've completed final interviews. I'm so curious to know what would cause for this to be a decently common occurrence.
@engineering_bae Hiring for a project and that project gets cancelled while you're in the interview process. Scaling up to support a big client and that client backs out unexpectedly while you're interviewing for roles to support them.
