Massachusetts: Today is the last day to sign up for health insurance with the @HealthConnector. Get started and see if you qualify for financial help—or share this with someone who needs health coverage: mahealthconnector.org
Today could be the last anniversary of #RoeVWade as law of the land. But this isn’t the end of the fight. Not even close. The American people are on our side. We must fight back for abortion rights and reproductive justice—and we must #ExpandTheCourt to rebalance it.
A classic example of what happens when big Wall Street firms come to town: they extract as much as they can to line their pockets, all at the expense of workers & communities. I stand with the @MineWorkers who are fighting for justice. #WarriorMetStrikenymag.com/intelligencer/…
About 40% of Americans with student loan debt weren’t able to finish their degree. They’re stuck trying to pay down a mountain of debt on the wages they can make with a high school diploma. They need relief—they need the Biden administration to #CancelStudentDebt.
Twelve years ago today, the Supreme Court hung a big “For Sale” sign on our democracy with Citizens United. We need to overturn their disastrous ruling, get big money out of politics, and root corruption out of Washington so we can put power in the hands of the people.
"Billionaires have had a terrific pandemic."
And to sweeten the deal, our rigged tax code lets them get away with paying little or no taxes. (Yes, Elon Musk, I’m looking at you. You too, Jeff Bezos.) It’s long past time for a #WealthTax in America. usatoday.com/story/money/20…
A lot of restaurants in Massachusetts are hanging on by their fingernails. Every time we lose a local restaurant, it tears a hole in the fabric of our communities. I’m going to keep pushing to get this relief out the door as soon as possible.
I’m not giving up. There’s nothing more important than guaranteeing the right to vote and the right to have that vote counted. Tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that, we get right back up and get right back in the fight to defend our democracy in every way we can.
We can’t let these efforts to subvert our democracy stand. The Senate must pass the Freedom to Vote Act and John Lewis Voting Rights Act right now to protect free and fair elections. And if the GOP won’t join us, then we must reform the filibuster. Our democracy depends on it.
Last night, I went to the Senate floor to talk about how our democracy is under attack. I read out loud from several articles on voter suppression taking place in state after state across the country. I want to share those articles here too. vox.com/22575435/votin…
One of the two major political parties in America has now said it’s their policy to keep American citizens from voting. It’s an attack on our democracy. And it’s appalling. Enough is enough—we must defend the right to vote and the right to have that vote counted.
Republican state legislatures are outdoing each other to keep people from voting if they’re likely to vote Democratic, to keep their votes from being counted if they do make it in, & to gerrymander their districts so an extremist minority can run the country. We must fight back.
Every time we pick up the mantle and keep up the fight for social, racial, and economic justice—including defending the sacred right to vote—Dr. King’s dream lives on. Today, we honor his life and legacy, and we are called to fight back against the forces of hate.
All on his own, with one stroke of the pen, President Biden could #CancelStudentDebt. It would boost our economy, start to close the racial wealth gap, and lift an impossible burden off tens of millions of people. And there’s no need to wait.
Housing costs are kicking families in the teeth. And you don’t have to dig very deep to find a key root cause: predatory practices by Wall Street investors. We can’t solve the housing affordability crisis without cracking down on these abuses.
Making it easier to vote early and vote by mail.
Establishing Election Day as a national holiday.
Banning partisan gerrymandering.
Cracking down on dark money in politics.
And more. It’s time to get around the filibuster and get this done. nbcnews.com/politics/elect…
