I visited Tokyo for the first time in 2+ years 🇯🇵. Great to see Minister @Goto_Shigeyuki. Thank you for sharing Japan’s experiences during #COVID19 and for your ongoing support for @WHO, including hosting our Regional Committee Meeting #RCM72 in Himeji last October!
2021 brought us new, innovative ways of working together, including through our 1st-ever hybrid regional committee meeting #RCM72. It is our privilege to work w countries in the Western Pacific to support their #COVID19 response & routine healthcare, & strengthen health systems.
I appreciate @IFMSA’s coverage of #RCM72, including the “gender watch” slide of this video, which I found very interesting – it is important to track these statistics!
For my final stop in 🇯🇵 for #RCM72 I attended local students' presentations on global health challenges. I really felt their energy for shaping a better future & was so impressed with their research on mental health, health behaviours & poverty. Congrats to all participants 👏!
