THURSDAY JANUARY 20, 2022 | The Omicron variant continues to dominate but there are reports that Delta is driving some of the deaths due to Covid-19. The New York Times reported today that there were 753,990 new cases of Covid-19 reported in America on Wednesday.
The Times also reported 1,971 deaths due to Covid-19 on Wednesday. That also continues the continuing upward trend. Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center reports there were 1.13 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine administered on Wednesday.
Johns Hopkins also reports 860,146 total deaths in America due to Covid-19 as of 7:30PM PST tonight. At this rate it's likely America will exceed 900,000 deaths due to Covid-19 in about two weeks. Many of those are needless deaths among the unvaccinated.
35 of 36 counties in the state of Oregon reported 10,034 new cases of Novel Coronavirus Covid-19 on Wednesday. That is an extremely high number. The state of Oregon also reported 8 deaths due to Covid-19 on Thursday.
The 10 counties in Oregon with the most new cases of Covid-19 are 1st Multnomah county 1,434 cases, 2nd Washington 1,400, 3rd Marion 1,073, 4th Clackamas 776, 5th Lane 747, 6th Deschutes 675, 7th Linn 575, 8th Jackson 508, 9th Yamhill 293& 10th UMATILLA county 288 cases.
The Oregon Health Authority reported today that Umatilla county had 288 new cases of Novel Coronavirus Covid-19 on Wednesday. That brings the total number of Covid-19 cases since March 2020 to 19,441 with 3,475 cases so far in January.
Today is the 9th time out of 13 report days in January that Umatilla county has been in the top 10 of all counties with Covid-19. Umatilla county will exceed 20,000 total cases in the next few days. It's likely Umatilla county will also exceed 5,000 cases for the month of January
Morrow county had another big day of new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday with 50 reported. That brings their total since March 2020 to 2,592. Union county had a big day of new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday with 61 cases reported. That brings their total since March 2020 to 3,842.
