Cannot help but think: with the time drain that is article submission and the low chance of acceptance at many journals (including AiM), wouldn't a submission system without cover letter be a better and fairer system? I think it would be
@TFLangkaas @MaartenvSmeden I agree that cover letters are superfluous (as are impact statements and “end of introduction summaries”). But I often value graphic abstracts, great for summarising a paper in presentations, and “layman’s” abstracts (e.g. in Science), although the editors write those I think.
