We look to Northern Ontario for this week’s #HistoricalHousing feature in #Sault Ste. Marie. The home was built between 1814 and 1823 by fur trader Charles Oakes Ermatinger and is considered one of the oldest surviving houses in Northern Ontario!

After the Ermatinger family left, the house was used as a courthouse, hotel, post office, tavern, dance hall and apartment building. It is now open to the public as a house museum. Visit the @CitySSM website to learn more: saultstemarie.ca
