@jen_keesmaat “No city in the world is rebuilding expressways.” - perhaps our definition of expressway is different, but there are more than 15 downtown highways under repair/expansion/reconstruction in the US right now, each with budgets exceeding US$ 500 million.
@jen_keesmaat The only way it’s possible is if there is a reasonable increase in transit as well…the cost needs to be the same, the mode needs to be different…
@jen_keesmaat I agree to remove the ugliness of #Toronto ,the Gardiner Expressway, and make shore line of the city open to public but really puzzled with the congestion in downtown. Public transport is not moving, weather is extreme for 7 months to bike and everything is in the center. 🤷🏽♂️

@jen_keesmaat Council’s decision to rebuild DVP-FGX link was based on Tolling Those City owned/maintained Highways. Wynn provided funding to replace tolling revenues to delay tolls till transit was in place. Ford clawed back that $160 mil/yr. so now there’s no tolls and no money for rebuild.

@jen_keesmaat @FireFordNow Between the expressways rebuild and the Korean subway spiders web there’s got to be something in the middle. Bc selecting one will only continue to aggravate the situation that wasn’t chosen. Its inevitably that creates combative politics that stuns a City and its regressive.
