If I were a woman dating right now, I would be scared shitless to be on #Bumble or any dating site that doesn’t immediately develop security features after #LaurenSmithFields mysterious death in Bridgeport.
They should immediately develop features that require you to log that you’re going on a date with a user before you go.
And it should have you list an emergency contact that would be called unless you log that you’ve returned safely. If you don’t log it, #Bumble should immediately inform your contact and file it with the police.
@Mercy_WriteNow This sounds good in theory, but no company is going to do all that to replace common sense. We could also do it the old-fashioned way and meet people out and about, get to know them in public places, let our friends and fam know who we’re out with and where we’re going, etc.
@jgatzme …this is literally what social responsibility it. Companies do a lot of work to blame consumers. And sure, there’s nothing you can do to replace best practices… but dating companies CAN ABSOLUTELY implement safety features and do their own due diligence to protect users.
@Mercy_WriteNow It doesn’t matter how many safety features they implement. It’s up to users to make good decisions. This isn’t a product, ultimately. We’re talking human interactions.
