Friend who works at another Uni just told me that a student in their class tested positive for Covid-19. (Student told them.) My friend was told that since all of the students in the class were wearing masks, they are not considered close contacts. Is this the policy at most U's?
@SJDJ @UWaterloo I am also not attending ‘lunch meetings’ of faculty where colleagues unmasked to eat/drink—or mtgs where colleagues or presenter taking advantage of exemptions to unmask if at 2m+ presenting/lecturing.
@SJDJ @UWaterloo This #highered exemption to unmask when teaching/presenting/lecturing & staying 2m+ away was provided in a ministerial order. I don’t agree with it…
@SJDJ @UWaterloo First—in class it makes students—at power deficit in classroom—responsible for policing faculty to maintain 2m when unmasked & teaching. Unethical IMO & actual 2 m is farther than most think.
@SJDJ @UWaterloo 2nd—the 2m rule doesn’t recognize the widely accepted science of #aerosol transmission as predominant path of #COVID19 infection.
@SJDJ @UWaterloo I did #CDC case study of classroom #Delta transmission from temporarily unmasked infected teacher with my #teachered students. Worth the read. At least 1/2 class infected with #masks, air filter, ventilation, distancing cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/7…
@SJDJ @UWaterloo See the classroom diagram of #Delta transmission in masked, air filtered, ventilated, 6 ft distanced elementary classroom on pg 2. I colored this for better differentiation.
@SJDJ @UWaterloo I have a set of case study questions for this 👆 if anyone interested. It was preceded by a lesson on #COVID19 , kids, & mitigating classroom risks.
