When your kid brings home a report card with six A’s and one C, instead of pointing to the C and asking, “What happened here?” start with, “Wow! What made it possible for you to get these A’s?” This will shift how they relate to their strengths and struggles for years to come.

Some people sacrifice the balance within them to keep the balance around them. This often comes from growing up in environments where that felt like the only real choice. Here to remind you that you have more choices now. And that your internal world is worthy of your attention.
A job, relationship, friendship, adventure, love, or pursuit … does not have to last forever for it to be worth having or doing.

It will never work to hate yourself into a better version of who you are.
The fact that the word ‘needy’ is such an insult speaks to how terrified we are of our own needs and dependence. We are all needy when our needs are not met, just as we are all hungry when we go without food.
Imagine your 5-year-old self sitting next to you. Got it? Now look that kid right in the eye and tell them that you’re proud of them for doing the best they could with the very limited set of choices they had. We’re all just kids in adult armor. Cut yourself a little slack.
Seeing, monitoring, and judging videos of yourself all day is unnatural and psychologically taxing. Turn off self-view for all of your Zoom calls. It feels strange at first but you’ll be amazed by how much less exhausted you feel at the end of each day.
When it comes to relationships, the things you do every day are more important than the things you do once in awhile.
Your pain is valid even though others have it worse. Your joy is beautiful even though others have it better.
