Why are the Cardinals starting their offseason program a week later than they're allowed to start? Jonathan Gannon said they "really like like how we set the schedule up" from a S&C, football movement and drill-work perspective.
Jonathan Gannon on the potential of the Cardinals trading out of 3 in next month's draft: "If we're sitting at three, great, I'll be excited. If we're not sitting at three, great, I'll be excited."
@AZCardsBurner No, that was what we, in the business, call a typo of epic proportions.
Jonathan Gannon was asked about being the head coach of the entire team rather than perceived as the HC of just one side of the ball: "Everything that goes on in that field is my responsibility. So, I'm gonna have some knowledge what's going on under that on on that field."
Jonathan Gannon said he had to recruit WR Zach Pascal a little bit because other teams wanted him but the two spent time together in Philadelphia and Indianapolis so there was a relationship there that won out.
On the balance of keeping Kyler Murray healthy vs. him running: "We'll educate him and we'll want him to be smart about when he is in the open field, but the competitor in him, you're gonna have to coach that out of him a little bit."

Gannon has given his DC Nick Rallis the freedom to run that side of the ball but wants to be kept in the loop. "I did not want a copy and paste job from Philly bc there's things that I wanna see done better and things that you need in 2023 that we didn't need in 2021 and 22."
Jonathan Gannon would not put a timeline on Kyler Murray's return "because you're always wrong when you do that. So, whenever he's ready to play, he'll play." Gannon wants Murray to be fully ready both physically and mentally before returning.
Kyler Murray was in Dallas last week checking in with his surgeon, Jonathan Gannon said. Gannon added that Murray is ready to go to the next phase of his rehab.
More on the OL: - Gannon said everyone has a chance to start, which was a response to a question about whether Josh Jones can supplant Kelvin Beachum at RT. - Dennis Daley can play G or T but has told Gannon he's more comfortable at guard.
Jonathan Gannon likes where the Cardinals' OL is at right now after re-signing guys like Will Humphries and Will Hernandez, who JG said he's thought highly of, and signing Hjalte Froholdt and Dennis Daley.
I asked Jonathan Gannon what the plan was at center now that Rodney Hudson is out of the picture. He said the Cardinals "don't really need a center right now" because they have guys who have played C and can play C already on the roster.
Gannon said McCoy and Blough were asking for the offensive playbook a couple weeks ago but Gannon told them to focus on their health first.
The Cardinals are prepared to enter the offseason with Colt McCoy and David Blough as their quarterbacks until Kyler Murray gets back, Jonathan Gannon said Tuesday. As Gannon said with the entire roster, Arizona will be looking to add guys and create competition.
Jonathan Gannon said repeatedly Tuesday that he hasn't read the results of the NFLPA survey and said Tom Reed's firing wasn't related to the report card's findings: "No decision that I make is gonna be predicated on a report card or a media story or a narrative out there."
Expanding on the team's decision to part ways with long-time trainer Tom Reed, Jonathan Gannon said "we're looking at that room completely and make sure that it's operating from a standpoint of that's what's best for the players." He said a change was necessary.
Asked about what changes the Cardinals have made since the NFLPA survey came out, Gannon said "we've made some big-time changes already. I'm not gonna get in too much of it, but food, weight room, facilities, contracts. Michael's been fantastic. I mean, he really has."
Jonathan Gannon said Isaiah Simmons received "good news" about his health. "He's gonna be here and excited, ready to go," Gannon said.
Jonathan Gannon, sticking with his flexibility theme, said the Cardinals will fit their scheme around the players on the roster compared to fitting players into their scheme.
In his first comments since Arizona signed a handful of free agents, Jonathan Gannon said he's "excited" about the Cardinals' free agency class. "I feel like we added some really good pieces," Gannon said. He added that versatility was a priority in FAs.
To everyone who’s been critical about Arizona not signing a big-name free agent, Jonathan Gannon said: “You don’t win games in free agency, I know that.”
Jonathan Gannon confirmed reports that the Cardinals moved on from longtime trainer Tom Reed. He said it was an organizational decision.
Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said he’s operating under the premise that DeAndre Hopkins is Arizona’s starting X receiver.
