California will permanently begin providing free school meals for all public school students this fall, regardless of their family's income.
@kylegriffin1 That seems a bit odd…income inequality should mean help to the people who need it not giving a free meal to somebody who can afford it. I mean, if a rich kid is already in public school then what additional financial help do they actually need?
@kylegriffin1 As a Canadian, this has never made sense to me. Americans claim to live in the best and richest country in the world, yet you rely on the school system to feed your children. I raised 3 kids on minimum wage income and I could always afford to pack them a lunch.
@kylegriffin1 Yes! Make it universal, so -No child, not even one, falls through the cracks; -There's no stigma, poor, middle class, and rich kids all get the same free lunch; and -Fox News can't do 15 minute segments demonizing it as "class warfare".
@kylegriffin1 Like the state can afford this? The state is basically bankrupt.
@kylegriffin1 Somehow, Fox News will demonize this.
@kylegriffin1 The fact some will be so angry over this amazing thing is just sad. I’m so happy they’re doing this. Every state needs to do this. Every child should have access to food.
@kylegriffin1 No one should have an issue w this.
