“Omicron is so contagious that it can’t be stopped.” “We’re all going to catch it. It’s inevitable.” “Omicron is like a natural vaccine, catching it is a good thing.” Meanwhile on the other side of the world…
@deepus_ex One of our local vaccine experts.
@Neonrain17 @KashPrime Of course. They have to make sure everyone stays convinced that there’s no alternative way to handle things.
@lisa_iannattone Give it time. In Korea masks and contact tracing have probably delayed the omicron wave but we aren’t expecting to hold it back indefinitely. That being said, yea, we wear masks here.
@lisa_iannattone @noctarius2k Do case numbers matter as much now? & what about the acessibility & scale of testing in each of the countries. I think general point is valid but showing a dramatic graph like that doesn’t tell the whole story. & this will become endemic. For some countries sooner than others.
@lisa_iannattone @Arrianna_Planey Those countries have restrictions in place that a lot of people in N America would not tolerate, sadly. Collective interests versus the individual. And in East Asia we prioritize the collective.
@gxsingularity @lisa_iannattone YES!!! Exactly this! 👍 Our Covid response has revealed an innate American contempt of and disregard for one's neighbor. It's all ME. MINE. And nothing is ever enough. Reminds me of that Twilight Zone episode about the bomb shelter. It does NOT bode well for our near future.
@lisa_iannattone The masked shall inherit the earth
@lisa_iannattone @StutterLoudly @DrEricDing
@lisa_iannattone @StutterLoudly WHY, is the question.
