Republicans claim the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act is radical. Let's talk about what this bill does: ✔️require early voting & vote by mail options ✔️make Election Day a holiday ✔️crack down on voter intimidation ✔️require post-election audits How is any of this radical?
@maziehirono Because they wouldn’t be able to intimidate voters
@maziehirono The only part I disagree with is, making it a national holiday. We have enough national holidays.
@maziehirono It is radical (to Republicans) because it allows people to vote.
@maziehirono It's not, so instead attack them for attacking civil right, voting rights, obstructing good governance and exploiting the American citizenry. Defend us against this domestic enemy.
@maziehirono That is an excellent question. What say you @Sen_JoeManchin @SenatorSinema
@maziehirono I think that in their dictionary, "radical" is defined as "empowers the people."
@maziehirono Thank you for standing up to protect voting rights, my senator! Push the 2 recalcitrants as much as you can, and also appeal to any moderate, sometime-reasonable GOP senators, like Murkowski, Collins and Romney. What are their excuses for not voting yes??
