@jasonintrator I hope you include this for balance politico.com/news/magazine/…
@jasonintrator @GregGrandin Are you saying that Harris isn't a great historian? The 1619 Project asserts many things that are contested among great historians. If you're going to reach it as history, you should teach its formidable critics, too.
@conor64 @jasonintrator @GregGrandin That is a great piece to include because it talked about the importance of the 1619 Project and how so many people would try to undercut it by focusing on a single line that needed a clarification - and that's precisely what's happened.
@ijbailey @conor64 @jasonintrator @GregGrandin The only thing Conor finds useful in this Leslie Harris piece is what can be used against the project. He ignores everything else, including her critique of the work of the very scholars he keeps pointing to, so let’s be clear about what he’s doing.
@ijbailey @conor64 @jasonintrator @GregGrandin Further, great historians contest many works — that’s literally how the field works. @NicholasGuyatt contested @seanwilentz in the NY Review of Books! And great historians have supported the project and it’s assertions as well. What does he think that means?
