UK Gov't have removed protections. Now what? 🧵 Well it's easy to just feel like this is it; they decided it's all over & so all is lost. It isn't necessarily so. Here are a few thoughts that spring to mind that may help the feeling of helplessness many of us have right now. 1/
Firstly, I think that Boris had the backing of many on 'Freedom day' but now, I feel there is less support for that view. I don't think he's read the room; I think he's clinging on and bowing to his back-benchers to save his skin. More people disagree with him now I sense. 2/
Removing the general mask mandate won't change much. There were still plenty who didn't adhere to this and we had to rely on our good quality FFP2/3s to protect us. So that is still the case and from what I can see, many have chosen to continue regardless. 3/
@PeteUK7 The guardian is reporting Johnson will be banning staff and students wearing masks in schools. So bang goes my ability to mitigate my risk and protect those around me.
@notatoryteacher You'd have to hope that if that comes to pass that the teachers' unions will actually stand up for the teachers. Either that or for it to be challenged legally. It surely can't be legal to deny people protection at work.
