In one of his 1st moves in office, Va.'s new Republican AG reached down into the state's university system and fired the top lawyer at UVA -- a lawyer who went on leave from the school last year to be the top investigator on the Jan. 6 committee nytimes.com/2022/01/23/us/…
@nytmike That sounds like retaliation to me. Also seems kind of foolish to potentially illegally terminate someone who is understood to be “a top lawyer.”
@nytmike Putting on my legal hat, I smell a wrongful termination lawsuit coming! Civil litigation works!👍🏼👏🏼🙉 I’m sad that being a person that wants to get to the truth…can be career ending👁👁😔😷
@nytmike Besides being a part of the J6 investigation, what did the UVA professor do to have State AG involvement in his dismissal?
@nytmike @SpiroAgnewGhost We are in deep shit here in Virginia!
@nytmike @LarrySabato , is this as bad as it sounds?
@nytmike Didn’t a federal court just rule this type of censorship of University professionals was against their First Amendment rights? Republicans going hard with the fascism playbook.
@nytmike Civil rights violation for exercise of free speech and of association. Add to that extortion and obstruction, by trying to threaten those who would cooperate with the investigation and those conducting same. The DOJ needs to have a talk with Youngkin.
@nytmike @johncusack JFK fired somebody so tit for tat. @baseballcrank
