Nov. 27 1970 was the release of Lola Versus Powerman. I've been listening a lot to this concept album by Kinks, which proved they were more than a singles band. A satirical look at the music industry, this album spawned the hits "Apeman" and the gender-bender "Lola." Terrific!

@JeffreyRothsch3 @Freelineorlando @only_si_chuck @roger_bakes @TimothyJamesCat @Doreeng4457 @ihateclaims @KerriShaw22 @JohnXkidd I don’t know their albums as well as I should, but I can recommend Schoolboys in Disgrace. I played that one a lot. Lola started out as Coca-cola, and they had to change it to Cherry Cola. Wiki. Details in the Controversy section. Product placement not allowed on BBC
@performativeUtt @JeffreyRothsch3 @only_si_chuck @roger_bakes @TimothyJamesCat @Doreeng4457 @ihateclaims @KerriShaw22 @JohnXkidd I have Schoolboys In Disgrace, and you're right, that's a great one. I don't mind the lyric change, I used to love cherry cola
@Freelineorlando @JeffreyRothsch3 @only_si_chuck @roger_bakes @TimothyJamesCat @Doreeng4457 @ihateclaims @KerriShaw22 @JohnXkidd “You’re gonna find out the hard way.” I can’t recall any weak cuts. But from what I’ve seen it hasn’t been reviewed well.
