I’m happy that Tanev and McCann scored tonight, don’t get me wrong. But constant checking in on ex-players feels like checking an ex’s social media. We don’t do that here. We have a new strong, beautiful, independent girlfriend, and her name is Big Jeff Carter.
@PenguinsJesus Yes, but at one time, Penguins had all three. They were likely to lose one. They decided, for reasons still not fully explained, to lose two on purpose.
@phonybigcharles @PenguinsJesus Carter was protected. Great. Tanev was not. OK, had to lose somebody. McCann was traded. Why?
@tsnmike @phonybigcharles @PenguinsJesus McCann was who Seattle wanted and trading him got us assets in return and allowed Seattle to take Tanev from us, which as much as I love Tanev had a relatively bad contract.
@Zetsubonokami @phonybigcharles @PenguinsJesus Hallander has been middling in the Swedish league and the other "asset" is a seventh-round pick. Was it simply to dump Tanev's contract?
@tsnmike @phonybigcharles @PenguinsJesus It's definitely a possibility considering he still has 3 years left after this one
@Zetsubonokami @tsnmike @phonybigcharles @PenguinsJesus But then going on and signing another (worse?) bottom6er in McGinn for the same term just seems like big galaxy brain stuff
