This Tumblr post sums up my feelings on N-F-Tees and A-I and this complete, cynical commodification and gamification of creating or engaging in art
@reimenayee Too much grief for my artist heart 2 handle. But it’s also a relief that I’m not the only person who feels this way
@reimenayee Relating to this sentiment. I read and watch The Little Prince and the Banker is still the most sadly charmless character to represent humans ever.
@reimenayee Honestly when goncharov said that exact quote about soul rot and speaking in numbers to mikhael i was 99% sure theyd be throwing hands right there in his office but then they teamed up for the bank vault scene and it was glorious
@reimenayee NFTs started with "art for artists" & has devolved to "what's that art do - I want utility, I want to stake it, I has to do something" ans not caring if it's good or crap, only that it can make them $$. They are increasingly all the same - animal headshot w/ accessories
@reimenayee How can you be anything but utterly delighted by the collective story telling game that is Goncharov? Just. Even if it's not your thing thematically, idk, just watching people vibe with it warms my heart so much. But yeah, all of this.
@reimenayee Capitalism has infected the most beautiful part of human existence - creativity. And we are all paying the price for it. - an artist, technician, and art lover.
@reimenayee This resonated with me on a strangely deep level. I spend a lot of my time quantifying stuff that doesn't need to be drawn and quartered into some sort of "value". Also NFT is like being sold a deed with no binding legal language, just meaningless digital paper.
@reimenayee @juliedillon That. Is. The. Best. Response. Ever. May I use it? It encapsulates everything!
@reimenayee @RavennoWithTea This is why years from now I will still tell people Goncharov is a real film. It’s a beautiful moment of culture and I’m so invest in it specifically because it’s not some commercialised trend but something that arose organically. It’s unique and beautiful and was definitely real
