The single biggest problem in education today: children aren’t at school. Labour has a plan to get our children into school and learning again. Excellence must be for everyone.

@bphillipsonMP Being a qualified teacher myself, I can inform you that we are not trained adequately to understand SEND, so most won’t know the difference between behaviour & response to not having needs met. There’s another root problem you could tackle!
@bphillipsonMP Making mainstream schools - esp. secondary - more appropriate and inclusive environments for neurodivergent students & those with SEND must be part of this - including teacher training, curriculum, adaptations in environment & expectations...so much needed.
@bphillipsonMP Fewer teachers = chaotic lesson cover with supply staff on a daily business. No acceptable consistency. Teachers walking out due to pressure = school staffing crisis . Pupils with SEND, not supported in class, flounder & stay off. Sort out staffing first!
