Even Biden's plan to crack down on tax cheats is too ambitious for centrist Democrats nymag.com/intelligencer/…
@its_alexflores That's exactly what the DNC wants, to be the minority party. That way they have a built-in excuse as to why they are doing nothing for their voters.
@its_alexflores @PensiveTM @lyladiaz i don't agree with them necessarily wanting to be the minority party, but the matter of distinction this has from "they don't care if they win" is so minor it's largely irrelevant. intentional or not, the results end up the same.
@its_alexflores @PensiveTM @lyladiaz whatever intention you assign to them, the results are the same. and that's good to keep in mind with a group as large as the democrats, because you will have many actors. it's not "are they corrupt, or incompetent, or malicious?" the answer is all 3 at once as a group.
@its_alexflores @PensiveTM @lyladiaz each individual actor has their own motivations, but the results end up the same. what they have "in their hearts" is impossible for us to definitively know. so we focus on the results. which are always the same.
@its_alexflores @PensiveTM @lyladiaz "don't care if they win or not so long as they make money" extends perfectly well to who the dems chose for my own state to run against susan collins. sara gideon, a TERRIBLE campaigner, but an EXCELLENT fundraiser. campaign ended with $10 million left over.
@its_alexflores @PensiveTM @lyladiaz notably, her campaign was still asking for donations *even on the day of the election*, when that money wouldn't do them any fucking good, and she's still holding onto the vast majority of it. and what she spent went to unregulated consultants and ads, not on the ground stuff.
