@richard87114520 @Saffiya_Khan1 @virtual40784093 @RoxRuminates @TonyHinton2016 What? By that argument, no one person should wear a seatbelt to reduce the risk of dying in a crash that they almost certainly would've survived. After all, the vast majority of car crashes aren't fatal, and what if you managed to strangle yourself with the seatbelt?
@richard87114520 @Spoonhead8 @Saffiya_Khan1 @virtual40784093 @RoxRuminates @TonyHinton2016 You really don't have a great conceptual hold on relative risk, do you? Vaccination is a tradeoff, choosing to take a very small chance of dangerous complications in order to mitigate a larger risk of many of the same consequences.
@Spoonhead8 @richard87114520 @Saffiya_Khan1 @virtual40784093 @RoxRuminates @TonyHinton2016 Never understood the "it's mostly folks with preexisting conditions" thing. Most folks have at least one, especially in places like the US. 50% of Americans have hypertension; 40% are obese, and 70% are obese/overweight; 10% have diabetes. Not exactly a tiny minority.
@tchisonai @Spoonhead8 @richard87114520 @Saffiya_Khan1 @virtual40784093 @RoxRuminates @TonyHinton2016 The idea of assuming the less fortunate are sinful in some way and deserve their lot is distasteful to most normally minded people. To some it provides a good reason why they shouldn't be paying so much tax.
