I think we Jews have sort of an unusual and valuable perspective on ancestry and empire. Our ancestors never had an empire, and almost never even had a country, and I think this is probably why few Jews tend to think that we're naturally superior to anyone else.
@Noahpinion I like an explanation I read for why jews may be overrepresented in lucrative & influential areas today. It claims past discrimination & disruptions to those communities lead jews to invest more time & resources to things that can’t be seized, things they always take /w them…
@Noahpinion …Like education. And they weren’t accepted in discriminatory large, established orgs. So many looked to the next potentially big fields / start-up like orgs. So by the time the knowledge economy & newer fields became important, jewish communities were better suited to succeed.
@KolotaTyler @Noahpinion I think education is a practice in many cultures. Jews have learned to read in order to study Torah and Talmud. Chinese studied for the national exam.
@tdietterich @Noahpinion Yes, also my suspected primary reason for why protestants are more materially successful, one has to have literacy to have a personal reading & understanding of the bible. The point is more recent events that would further encourage a focus on education beyond other communities.
