It took me 1 year to reach out for help for my mental health for the 1st time. It took me 1.5 years to take antidepressants for the 1st time. I had to overcome a lot of self-stigma to do so but once I did getting help & taking meds was the best decision of my life.

160 Followers 265 Following The Health Management and Leadership programme (HML) is a one year MSci for intercalating medical students, run by HSMC at the University of BirminghamIt took me 1 year to reach out for help for my mental health for the 1st time. It took me 1.5 years to take antidepressants for the 1st time. I had to overcome a lot of self-stigma to do so but once I did getting help & taking meds was the best decision of my life.

I remember well how much work went into my med school research project, trying to get a handle on the strange systems and terminology of what GPs do every day. Each of the projects have real-life implications I could use next week!
@mindbodydoctor_ The beauty of General Practice is you can have control over your own time: that’s more difficult in specialities. Flexibility is a positive but be careful not to take on too much outside General Practice.
