racial capitalism is the progressive version of behavioral economics, theory-driven and imperial projects emerging in current form out of post Cold War Anglo triumphalism
It functions as a way to say that capitalism has helped manufacture and exploit racism that won't offend the donor class, and it is aligned (playing catch up to in real ways) with the moral program of finance capital in its competition with manufacturing.
every time I post skepticism about "racial capitalism" its exponents (which are the same as its proponents), under their own professional accounts, respond with ad hominem, as it's a sacred cow of progressive neoliberalism.
@samhaselby Please define your understanding of what "racial capitalism" is, in relation to 'progressive neoliberalism', as it all sounds mixed-up to me.
@samhaselby skepticism about "racial capitalism" = not even understanding what these words mean
@samhaselby I thought "racial capitalism" was from Cedric Robinson's critique of Marxism, which has nothing to do with any form of neoliberalism ?? I'm confused
@worldsystemsth1 Cedric Robinson wrote a book like 40 years ago (its main innovation was to segregate Marxism). It sat quietly for ~ 15 years until began to be appropriated as a banner of progressive neoliberalism, which uses elite multiculturalism as a justification for austerity.
