2 days ago@ChristiansonAmy Make sure you haven’t enabled Google Docs Integration v2 in the Advanced pane of the Zotero Connector preferences. If not, post to the forums with a Report ID and we can take a look. zotero.org/support/report…

a week ago@HumnEnterprises Capitalize the “o” in the item data. We’ll look into adding an exception before a colon (like last word in whole title), but it’s technically just the usage that’s relevant, not the position. “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue” would have the same problem and couldn’t be automated.

2 weeks ago@danjohnsonhymns @mendeley_com @AcademicChatter Zotero has always supported footnotes. It’s Mendeley that doesn’t. You’d have to ask them why they made a citation manager that doesn’t support footnote styles.

Zotero @zotero
2 weeks ago@danjohnsonhymns @mendeley_com @AcademicChatter Zotero will automatically relink Mendeley Desktop citations with the imported items, but it can’t currently read citations created with Mendeley Cite (which is what doesn’t support footnotes), so unfortunately those you would have to reinsert from the imported library.

Zotero @zotero
2 weeks ago@eliza_audacis The problem is that items can exist in any number of collections and have any number of tags assigned, so showing them in a column doesn’t really make sense. You can use colored tags to see color swatches in the items list. You can see items in *no* collection in Unfiled Items.

3 weeks ago@porterblepeople @treyemoss @jenniferguo Note that an export isn’t a true backup. In addition to using Zotero syncing, we always recommend proper backups of the Zotero data directory, ideally as part of an automated full-computer backup (e.g., Time Machine on Macs). zotero.org/support/zotero…

Zotero @zotero
3 weeks ago@treyemoss @jenniferguo If you email us at [email protected], we can help restore access to an old account. An account isn't required to use Zotero, though, so it's possible you were just using Zotero locally without syncing. In that case your data would be on the computer where you last used Zotero.

Zotero @zotero
3 weeks ago@LauraQuaglia The page explains this. Even if you get files from other sources, you can just drag them to Zotero and it will organize them for you based on how you’ve configured it. The point is to avoid tedious manual organization of files.

3 weeks ago@IMK312 Uninstall Zotero.dotm from your Word Startup folder, restart Word to confirm that it’s gone, and reinstall it from the Cite pane of the Zotero preferences. Also make sure Word and Zotero are both up to date. If you’re still having trouble, post to the Zotero Forums.

3 weeks ago@srLeoSalazar @alextheknitter @ryancordell An official Android app is under development. In the meantime, you can use the mobile web library or a third-party app to access your library from an Android device.

Zotero @zotero
3 weeks ago@BerLinguistin Zotero should save high-quality metadata from most major academic publishers. If you’re not seeing that somewhere, post to the Zotero Forums with a URL. (While we encourage sites to embed metadata Zotero can use, generally we add support for sites, not the other way around.)

Zotero @zotero
3 weeks ago@rkokayokay Zotero has a built-in Mendeley importer, and it can automatically relink citations in existing documents to the imported items. (And, of course, it supports footnote styles.) zotero.org/support/kb/men…

Zotero @zotero
3 weeks ago@unanaismyname @googledocs That’s a years-old thread unrelated to Google Docs. Merging chapters with Zotero citations should work fine. Unlinked citations in Google Docs are generally caused by using drag-and-drop or editing without the Connector enabled. zotero.org/support/kb/goo…

3 weeks ago@mcdougleinchina Post to the Zotero Forums with details and we’ll be happy to help. There’s no need to do them manually. zotero.org/support/report…

Zotero @zotero
4 weeks ago@katyrawdon There’s an Add Note button in the word processor plugin that will insert notes with active Zotero citations. If you don’t care about active citations, you can also just copy/paste or export to HTML and open in Word. zotero.org/blog/zotero-6/…

2 months ago@cbpolis That means Zotero isn’t able to write to its own database. Restart your computer and try again, and if you’re still getting it, check permissions in your Zotero data directory or try disabling third-party security software.

Zotero @zotero
2 months ago@kevinjonheller If you do make a manual edit, Zotero needs to ask whether you want to keep it, since doing so prevents the plugin from correctly updating the citation going forward. It should only ask once per citation you edit.

Zotero @zotero
2 months ago@kevinjonheller You should almost never make manual edits to active citations in the document. In almost all cases, you should fix the metadata in your library or customize the citation using the plugin. zotero.org/support/word_p…

Zotero @zotero
2 months ago@GordonHodsonPhD It’s fine for only one person to manage the citations. Just be sure everyone is saving as a .docx so that citations don’t get accidentally flattened. If your co-author wants to add citations, they can add them in some agreed-upon format and you can replace from Zotero later.

2 months ago@gerthuskens If you mean a list in Zotero itself, you can use Reference Extractor’s “Select in Zotero” feature and create a collection from the selected items. rintze.zelle.me/ref-extractor/
