Because Jesus prays for us, we're going to make it home.
It is "since" Jesus intercedes for us that we will be saved "to the uttermost" (Heb. 7:25).
Christian, Jesus praying for you is not 7% of your security.
The prayers of the crucified Messiah ENSURE that we're going home.
I think our friends in glory pity our over-anxiety about our little concerns here in the world, perceiving, without a cloud, how tenderly, how kindly, and with what unerring wisdom and efficacy, the great Lord of the universe orders all things to answer His designs, and the good of His people.
Thomas Charles, 1812 letter
Regeneration is not so much the curing of a sick man, as the quickening of a dead man. . . As the child is passive in generation, so is the child of God in regeneration. - Thomas Boston, Human Nature in its Fourfold State, The Banner of Truth Trust (2020), hardcopy, [226]
And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses...
--Colossians 2:13
Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities.
—Isaiah 53:11
The church would be better off if all understood their own sin is just as offensive to God as the next. We may sin differently but we all need grace. If all really understood that no one is more holy or without sin than one another there would be less stone throwing.. no one is worthy of anything God has gifted us with, no one is deserving of grace. All glory goes to our savior Jesus Christ that we can even know God or understand His word.
Christianity is a religion of salvation, and there is nothing in the non-Christian religions to compare with this message of a God who loved, and came after, and died for, a world of lost sinners.
John Stott | Basic Christianity
“When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, ‘Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.’”
-Revelation 1:17-18
The resurrected and ascended Son of God reigns in triumph this very minute, seated at the right hand of the Father, immortal and undefeatable (1 Peter 3:22).
The gospel is called the “good news” because it addresses the most serious problem that you and I have as human beings, and that problem is simply this: God is holy and He is just, and I’m not. And at the end of my life, I’m going to stand before a just and holy God, and I’ll be judged. And I’ll be judged either on the basis of my own righteousness—or lack of it—or the righteousness of another.
The good news of the gospel is that Jesus lived a life of perfect righteousness, of perfect obedience to God, not for His own well being but for His people. He has done for me what I couldn’t possibly do for myself. But not only has He lived that life of perfect obedience, He offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice to satisfy the justice and the righteousness of God.
— R.C. Sproul
Sometimes I think about where my life would be if God had not saved me, the path I would have gone down, the trajectory my life would have taken. And yet I thank God that I never have to truly know what my life would look like apart from Christ, because by His mercy, He saved me.
