Ellie, I founded @lumos, which exists to combat child institutionalisation. When children are placed in so-called orphanages, usually due to conflict, poverty or disability, their risk of being trafficked skyrockets. I've been engaged in this issue for over twenty years and have contributed significant time and resources to it. My charitable trust, Volant, focuses on issues pertaining to disadvantaged women and children, which includes sexual exploitation. A single wash of a wool jumper releases: nothing. The wool, when eventually disposed of, returns to soil within a few years. The fabric being marketed as the "ethical" alternative to wool is plastic. The plastic is "ethical" because nobody has been asked to slaughter the polymer. The polymer also has not been asked. Doris, by being a sheep on a fell, is producing the most thoroughly sustainable performance fabric humans have ever made. Brian is selling it at a loss. The fashion industry, meanwhile, is selling petroleum at a profit and calling it ethical. Reject plastic. Wear wool. Doris is, this morning, growing next year's batch.

Not a single individual among the people you cited ever claimed to be the opposite sex or a variation of it. They didn't involve any medicine in their expressions of gender nonconformity, and they certainly never pushed their cross-dressing habits as a civil rights issue comparable to previous struggles of persecuted minorities. What they did was to expand our understanding of what people can be and how they can express themselves,  regardless of sex. And then along came gender ideology, with its deceptively conservative logic, to once again impose on others the notion that, if a man is being a bit too "feminine," then he must be some type of women, just like any schoolyard bully would have said mockingly. Transgenderism is a reactionary ideology masquerading as a progressive cause. Thankfully, people are finally realizing it and pushing back against it all over the world.

My mum worked till 70 as a civil servant before dying prematurely from hep c given to her by the nhs in the contaminated blood scandal, still not properly addressed. My dad is still coaching kids, 90 in January. I raced young East Germans filled full of synthetic testosterone that was allowed to carry on for 20 years unchecked by the ioc. Cheating a generation of young women out of their just rewards. And resulting in those GDR girls being either seriously ill or dying as a consequence. I fight for women’s rights & safeguarding. I want all kids to do more sport. Get off their phones & learn skills like resilience, focus & team work for both their physical & mental health, something that’s in crisis presently. I believe in respectful debate, facts, statistics & science over ideology & social contagion. Truth has always been important to me even though speaking it has come with real ramifications in recent years. I’m grateful to @KemiBadenoch who always listened to me, even years ago & tries very hard to get things done.

The Taliban will no longer allow Afghan women to see with both eyes. They already required women to cover their entire bodies, leaving only their eyes visible underneath the burqa. But now, even that is being restricted. Women are now only allowed to see with one eye!
