Visited the Irradiation Facility Centre in Vashi, Mumbai. Gained insights into the irradiation treatment applied on fresh fruits in order to improve the shelf life. As it's Mango season, Kesar, Alphonso etc varieties are processed and exported to US, Australia etc.

Visited the Hot Water Treatment and Vapour Heat Treatment facilities dedicated to treating fruits, especially mangoes, in Mumbai. HWT & VHT are another way of pest control method used on fruits, especially on mangoes before export. #AatmaNirbharKrishi

The workshop adopts a hybrid format for enhanced engagement. The workshop will see sixteen NPPO delegates from 13 Asia-Pacific countries and the APPPC Secretariat attend in person. Other countries will virtually join the workshop for widespread representation.

The workshop provides a full forum for discussions on the system approach for managing fruit flies in mangoes and conducts a thorough review of all relevant ISPMs. This will also delve into the implementation of pre-harvest integrated plant health management for mango pests.
