The Commission would also investigate the ongoing coverup of the Epstein files, ICE shootings, the mass firings under Elon Musk’s disastrous DOGE, and improper funding freezes. Khanna believes that the looming Republican defeat in the midterms will result in members of that party jumping ship from Trump to support the Commission. “I believe that once they lose in the midterms, people are going to start to break with Donald Trump,” he said. “They’re going to recognize that they don’t want to hang their political future on a corrupt administration, and I will work as I did with Massie on accountability on these issues. I mean, standing against corruption is something that is going to be bipartisan.” It’s also worth remembering that the Trump presidency will be over in January 2029. If a Democrat seizes the White House — which seems increasingly likely as the GOP embraces its identity as a pro-pedophilia, pro-war party — they will be able to rubberstamp everything the Commission puts forward. At this point, accountability is unavoidable. Khanna believes that the Commission “can set the standard in 2028 for what the Democratic base and what voters expect of the next president.” “They expect a president that’s going to hold the elites accountable,” he said. “They expect us to not just move on, but to make sure that we have the rule of law followed. They expect us to hold Trump’s family accountable, Trump’s administration accountable, the people who committed illegal acts accountable, and have the courage and the strength to stand up for that, instead of just saying, ‘Okay, we’re going to move on and let’s pretend this never happened.’” What should the Commission subpoena first? First president in modern history to increase the deficit every single year of a full term. Fiscal responsibility, apparently, was always just a talking point. Kept the debt to GDP ratio above 100 percent for his entire first term. Presided over the largest single day point drop in Dow Jones history at the time. So much for the guy who claimed to be a genius with money. Set the record for the longest government shutdown in US history in his first term at 35 days, then couldn’t resist beating his own miserable record in his second term with a 43 day shutdown, followed by yet another shutdown just months later. Encore nobody asked for. Added roughly 2.25 trillion dollars to the national debt in his first year back in office alone, pushing the debt past 39 trillion dollars. Somebody remind me who the party of fiscal discipline is again. Pushed through the largest defense budget increase since World War Two while the debt kept climbing anyway. Purged more than 300,000 federal employees in his first year back. Efficient, if your goal is chaos. Pardoned nearly 1,600 January 6 Capitol rioters. At least 40 of those pardoned rioters have already been rearrested, charged, or sentenced for new crimes since walking free. Shocking absolutely nobody. His family’s crypto ventures, including a meme coin and World Liberty Financial, pulled in more than 1.4 billion dollars in disclosed earnings while he sat in the Oval Office. Draining the swamp was apparently code for filling his own pockets. Sent the National Guard into American cities at a cost of nearly 500 million taxpayer dollars in 2025 alone. His own tariffs are projected to cost the average American household more than 2,500 dollars this year. You’re paying for this. Not China. You. No more foreign wars. Peace deal with Russia and Ukraine on Day One. None of this is a conspiracy theory, a rumor, or something you saw in a group chat. Trump’s oil deal with Venezuela was negotiated in secret. Now we know why. The contract just leaked, and it doesn’t say what Trump says it says.  What it does say is that we bought 35 percent of a company for a penny a share. The company is run by Alejandro Betancourt, a Venezuelan businessman who’s been investigated for money laundering in Switzerland, Spain, and the United States. DOJ officials reportedly asked foreign governments to close those investigations and let him travel. The parent company is registered through a Barbados shell, so nobody can see who the other owners are. Any dispute goes to a court in Texas. One person involved said it was built to insulate the deal from future administrations. The company pumps about 200,000 barrels a day. America burns through that in 15 minutes.
