#SOL2022 Marilise Nogueira continues with metabolic re-programming and cellular adaptation for high level production of valuable keto carotenoids. KetoCrtds content increases during tomato fruit ripening. They are stored in membranes and plastoglobuli as crystals.
#SOL2022 Yossi Hirschberg continues with his presentation “Tomato carotenoids underground”. He starts asking… “what we are talking when we talk about tomato?” Well, red color, and color means lycopene. But it is not only the chemical but also how and where are accumulated.
#SOL2022 morning sessions are closed by Eugenia MA Enfissi with her presentation “Biorenewable production of the vaccine adjuvant squalene”. Squalene is a important compound used in vaccines. Three ways to get it: shark liver (bad4 🦈 ), olive oil (inefficient) or semisynthetic.
#SOL2022 continues with Prof. Paul Fraser and his presentation about plastid isoprenoid biosynthesis and it’s role in the plastoglobule. Different parts of the isoprene biosynthesis have been identified in the plastoglobule structures. They are important metabolic hubs.
Dr Harriet Berry from @FraserRhul has launched Natural Compound Solutions as part of her @HVB_net Enterprise Fellowship. The new enterprise utilises horticultural wastes streams to produce valuable pigments such as carotenoids royalholloway.ac.uk/research-and-t…
