FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO STRENGTHEN SPECIALIST MEDICAL TRAINING FOR EFFECTIVE HEALTHCARE DELIVERY The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, says the Federal Government remains committed to strengthening specialist medical training, healthcare delivery and health security in Nigeria. The Minister stated this at the 50th Anniversary Celebration and Annual General Scientific Meeting of the West African College of Physicians (WACP) in Abuja. He highlighted the College’s five decades of contributions to postgraduate medical education, research and the development of specialist physicians across West Africa. The event, themed “Celebrating a Legacy, Envisioning the Future,” marked the college’s Golden Jubilee which provided an opportunity to reflect on its achievements and chart a course for the future of medical practice in the region. Prof. Pate said the Tinubu administration had undertaken reforms to improve healthcare infrastructure, expand health insurance coverage, strengthen primary healthcare and invest in the health workforce. He disclosed that more than 30,000 healthcare professionals had been recruited into federal health facilities over the past two and a half years, adding that the government was supporting the training of frontline health workers, strengthening specialist institutions and expanding medical education capacity. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to digital innovation and the use of artificial intelligence, with appropriate safeguards, to improve healthcare delivery. On Regional health security, the Minister stressed the need for stronger disease surveillance, emergency preparedness and cross-border collaboration to prevent and contain infectious disease outbreaks, including Ebola. He called for sustained investment in public health institutions and closer cooperation among West African countries and international partners towards achieving an Ebola-free region. Prof. Pate further pledged continued federal government support for postgraduate medical education and specialist capacity development, while urging the WACP and its partners to strengthen collaboration, embrace innovation and build resilient health systems for future generations.

If I have a reason to vote in 2027, I will not be voting for President Tinubu for one reason and that is because of the kid-glove approach towards fighting fake products in Nigeria. It is no longer a fight that NAFDAC must be left alone to fight. Clearly, NAFDAC has proven to be overwhelmed and cannot fight the fight. NAFDAC is limited in resources, manpower and even by legislation. By now, I expected the President to have declared a national state of emergency on fake products. Fake products manufacturers and sellers are targeting the people of Nigeria in their millions to kill them one by one, while still profiting from it in billions. If the President cannot declare a national emergency on them, he should proscribe them as terrorists and treat them as one, because that is who they are. Economic terrorists and human terrorists. People spending their hard earned money to buy these products, will still have to spend to seek medical care and the unlucky ones die for no good reasons. Is it until these people eliminate all of us that he will act on it? Refusing to be aggressive and treat these criminals as who they are is really vexing me so bad. I did not have any relationship with you before I got admitted to the University of Lagos. In fact, I got 310 in my UTME exam to gain admission to the University of Lagos and that was the best score for all applicants to the law faculty the year of my admission. So I was admitted on merit. It is outright falsehood to say you or anyone provided me with any enabling environment to get admission to the University of Lagos. I must admit, I respect your seemingly infinite capacity to twist the truth, even when the evidence is caught on video, and project falsehood in its place. “Church, take back your country.” You were quoted out of context. “Daddy, the election is a religious war.” You were quoted out of context. You threatened to sue in 2023. Three years later, we are still waiting. And now, “If your family in Nigeria ask for money, tell them NO” is also supposedly quoted out of context. The only quote you are yet to deny is, “I got the advice from a mad man...” And, ironically, it is the very quote upon which the rest of your utterances appear to be built. A mad man's counsel! To you, unless Nigerians vote for you, they have not made the right decision. But that is not how democracy works. In a democracy, you strive to convince the electorate with the strength of your vision, the credibility of your antecedents, and the persuasiveness of your arguments. You do not bully them into submission with militant tactics and dictatorial rhetoric. Democracy is not the art of compelling the people to accept your choice. It is the freedom of the people to make their own. The ballot is not a weapon to be wielded against the electorate, and disagreement with your ambition is not evidence of their ignorance. Nigerians owe no politician their votes. Every candidate must earn them. Perhaps that is the context that needs no clarification.

Today, I was pleased to formally sign the settlement agreements between the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Bi-Courtney Limited and Stabilini Visinoni Limited over the nearly 20-year disputes involving MM2 domestic airport and the uncompleted hotel and conference centre opposite the airport. I was joined by the Directors of the Ministry of Aviation, the MD of FAAN, the DG of the ICRC and other Ministry officials. Bi-Courtney Ltd was represented by its alter ego, Dr. Wale Babalakin and his team. Under President Tinubu’s directive, some two years ago, I initiated and pursued a negotiated settlement with Dr. Wale Babalakin. As members of the Inner Bar, we both brought all our legal knowledge to bear on so many of the complicated and seemingly intractable issues. We also carried along all members of our teams on both sides. Finally, we found a way out of the logjam. The signing of the agreements today followed the approval granted by the Federal Executive Council on April 30th this year for the negotiated settlement to take place. It put an end to several claims and counterclaims that travelled all the way from the courts of first instance to the Supreme Court. Among several immediate benefits is that the Federal Government, will for the first time in nearly 2 decades, begin to earn its own share of the revenue from MM2 and the facility can expand its operations to include regional flights (flights within Africa).

Tinubu got only 54 percent in his own South-West. Peter Obi got 88 percent in his own South-East. Atiku got 51 percent in his own North-East. Whilst the other two barely got half of the votes in their home region, Peter Obi tended to 9 out of every 10 voter in his. Apart from Obi's 88 percent at home, no candidate crossed 55 percent in any region. Tinubu and Atiku managed 10 percent combined in the South-East. In the South-West, every one of the three men won at least one state. Tinubu took Ogun, Oyo, Ondo and Ekiti. Atiku took Osun. Obi took Lagos, the region's biggest prize and Tinubu's political home. Yet it is the Yoruba who are told they need a lecture from Peter Obi on how to vote without bigotry. This video below isn’t an error, it is how @PeterObi has always played his politics. Being an Obidient is to embody bigotry as your primary identity.
