My brother, I am not a prophet. I do not have supernatural powers to see into the future. I only have a brain, and I use it dispassionately, without emotion and without falling victim to the worship of personality cults. Zimbabwean politics is easy to analyse if you are dispassionate. That is why what I predict through analysis comes to pass. Almost everything I have said has happened, simply because I say things as they are, even when my brain and reality tell me that what I would like to happen will not happen. I would have wanted things to go the other way, but my job is to tell the truth, not to wish. That is what a trained journalist is supposed to be. Unfortunately, many folks want to be liked by everyone, so they go with the wind. They tell you what they think you want to hear, and when the evidence points in a different direction, they keep quiet because they fear losing applause. I do not care whether people like me or not. What I care about is the truth by analysing events honestly. That is what matters at the end of the day. Sadly, the majority of Zimbabweans do not use this gift. It is not that they do not have it, they choose not to use it. They want analysis that points towards what they would like to happen, not what is actually going to happen. If I did that, I would always be wrong. I would have told you that the opposition was strong and could withstand anything, even without structures, when I knew that it was going to be destroyed precisely because it had no structures. When I said in 2022 that the opposition was as dead as a dodo, I was insulted on this platform for telling the truth. Today that truth has come to pass for all to see. That is what matters for real journalists, not popularity, but being proven right by history.
