Maybe the first question should be, why are universities invested in *anything* to the degree they are? A hedge fund with a college attached serves nobody but the malefactors of great wealth.
This senior faculty member at @Columbia learned about NYPD entering campus from *student-run radio.* I still haven't been officially informed. Unless you count the text alert telling me to "shelter in place" and threatening "disciplinary action" for "non-compliance."
Student journalists at WKCR are having to correct professional media, including CNN, claiming the Columbia protesters aren't students. What a black mark on our industry, forcing student reporters to fact-check our unsubstantiated claims while they watch police raid their campus

On CNN @andersoncooper won’t stop implying that the students occupying the hall aren’t students. He’s not disclosing and explaining what this is based on.
These are choices administrators and government officials are making and there are successful alternatives that we have seen. The lie that this is the only way is just that. And we all know it.

The fact that police officers would rather punch, tear gas and arrest your child at school than protect them should be a wake-up call for a lot of people.
