600 year blip in human history is finally coming to an end. One of the great historical ironies is watching people in former European colonial powers lament the hollowing out of their nation-states, the erosion of monetary sovereignty, and the growing influence of unelected bureaucratic institutions like the European Commission and the European Central Bank over their economic and political lives. Then there's the hysteria surrounding immigration, with people insisting that their national identities, cultures, and ways of life are being fundamentally transformed by outsiders. Yet these are precisely the kinds of transformations European colonial powers imposed on much of the world for centuries: the destruction of indigenous political sovereignty, the subordination of local economies to external institutions, the imposition of foreign monetary and administrative systems, and the deliberate restructuring of colonized societies. The historical irony is that many Europeans now invoke the sanctity of national sovereignty and cultural preservation without recognizing how systematically their own states denied those very principles to the rest of the world.

The media coverage of Gaza broke something in the false consciousness framework that even Vietnam couldn’t fully break. Vietnam happened before social media. The images were controlled. The body count was managed. The narrative had gatekeepers. Gaza happened in real time, narrated by the people living it, on platforms that bypassed every editorial decision about what a Western audience was ready to see. And what the Western audience saw, millions of them, especially young ones, was the gap. The gap between what their governments said about human rights and what their governments did. The gap between the coverage of one refugee crisis and another. The gap between the vocabulary used for one population’s suffering and the vocabulary used for another’s. That gap is not new. It has always existed. What’s new is that an entire generation saw it at the same time, without the mediation of institutions that had spent decades learning how to make it invisible. The mirror cracked. Not because Gaza changed the West. Because Gaza was visible in a way the West’s previous choices were not.

In an age dominated by technology, in which efficiency and profit often take precedence, it is so important that we continue to cultivate a spirit of contemplation and allow time and space for beauty. It’s not China they fear. It’s what China disproves. That a nation can rise without plunder. That poverty can fall without war. That growth doesn’t need Wall Street permission slips. That a billion people can be fed, housed, and educated without invading anyone. That is what terrifies the empire. Not tyranny. But competence.

Never has my life ever been improved by sending a wall of text. Not. One. Time. Every time I’ve written the long paragraph, explained my feelings, clarified my intentions, defended myself or tried to make someone understand exactly why they hurt me. I usually just ended up feeling more exhausted. They just don’t want to understand. No perfectly worded message can create accountability, empathy, effort or emotional maturity in someone who doesn’t have it. I’m learning that peace doesn’t always come from finally saying everything. Sometimes it comes from realising I don’t need to explain myself anymore.

I'm not ashamed to say it. I've overplayed my role more times than I can count. Not because I'm desperate, not because I lack self-respect, but because when I care... I care for real. I pour. I show up. I love in a way I want to be loved back. And yes, sometimes I hurt my own feelings doing it. But at least I know my heart was honest. I stand by that.

🇫🇷 The situation in France is rapidly deteriorating by the day, the French population are feeling the effect of France's inability to continue exploiting the resources of West Africa, for peanuts and chicken change. Africa can no longer be France’s milking cattle. The economic realities are coming home and these young French students are being provided no answers to the origin of their present challenges. If France had the Pre July 2023 relations with Niger, they would have taken all the refined fuel and diesel of that nation to France and Nigeriens would be queuing up for fuel. The Uranium would still be flowing, giving France undue economic advantage, to the detriment of the exploited nations.. Now France has turned to supporting terrorism in the Sahel, using the limited resource it has into these armed terrorist group, in the hope that instability would return and that will provide them the pretext to reenter the Sahel. Sadly, no one is telling the protesters in France that their government is busy sending all their tax money to the terrorists groups in the AES countries instead of fixing the schools in France: No one is telling them that part of the money goes to Ukraine while while the population of France is suffering! I long for the day when they will be told that part of the problem is that the looting of the AES resources has been put to an end by General Goita, Tiani and Captain Traoré.
