I struggled with system design until I learned these concepts (not joking):
๐จ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ Have you ever wondered why companies like Netflix and Amazon seem to roll out features at the speed of light? The secret might be hidden in their tech stack based on Microservice architecture. At its core, Microservice architecture involves breaking down an application into a collection of small, loosely coupled services. Each service runs a unique process, communicates through a well-defined API, and is located in a separate codebase that can be managed by a small development team and deployed independently. Key elements of microservice architecture: ๐ญ. ๐๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฟ: Ensures even distribution of incoming network traffic across various servers. ๐ฎ. ๐๐๐ก (๐๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐ก๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ธ): A distributed server system that delivers web content based on the user's location. It's about bringing content closer to the end-user, making page loads faster. ๐ฏ. ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐: Manages requests by directing them to the appropriate microservice using REST API or other protocols. ๐ฐ. ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐: Monitoring and coordinating the microservices, ensuring they run efficiently and communicate effectively. ๐ฑ. ๐ ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐: Each microservice handles a distinct functionality, allowing for focused development and easier troubleshooting. They can talk with each other using RPC (Remote Procedure Call). Services are responsible for persisting their own data or external state. ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ณ๐ถ๐๐: โ ๐ฆ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐: Scale up specific parts of an app without affecting others. โ ๐๐น๐ฒ๐ ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐: Each microservice can be developed, deployed, and scaled independently. โ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ: If one microservice fails, it doesn't affect the entire system. โ ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ๐น๐ผ๐๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐: Smaller codebases mean quicker feature rollouts. ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธ๐: โ ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ๐ ๐ถ๐๐: More services can lead to a more complex system. โ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐: Maintaining consistency across services can be challenging. โ ๐ก๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ธ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐: Inter-service communication can introduce delays. โ ๐๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด: When an error happens, it's hard to debug why and where it happened.
