The thing about Google clearing a forest in Finland without permits is that they decided that whatever fine they might face is worth it. It doesn’t cost them as much as not getting the land cleared. Because like ALL things, if the punishment is a fine, it isn’t really illegal for rich people.

The EU is a joke. Nobody cares that Brussels is “deeply concerned” while an authoritarian regime faces no consequences. Vučić is undermining democracy, Russian intelligence is helping him preserve his regime, and the EU hides behind calls for “all parties” to behave responsibly. Where are your values? Your red lines? Your courage? Don’t humiliate students who are risking their lives tonight! Instead of empty statements: 1. Prepare sanctions against those responsible for undermining free and fair elections. 2. Where are your Hybrid Rapid Response Teams to counter interference and defend democratic processes? You’re waiting for the results at 8pm. What will you do at 9pm? If my sources are warning that Vučić is preparing chaos tonight, imagine what serious intelligence services already know. What exactly is Brussels waiting for? Why don’t you declassify and expose this? If Brussels can’t stand up to Vučić, how will it ever stand up to Putin?

Elections in Serbia: The queue outside the Serbian Embassy in Vienna (home to one of the largest Serbian diaspora communities in the world, yet with only a single polling station open) stretches around three street corners. A Serbian friend just called. She has been waiting in line for almost four hours now and still can’t see the embassy. She’ll probably end up paying for this election with a flu. At least she is almost on the street where the embassy is located. The man in front of her just said: “I don’t care how long I have to wait. I want to vote.” Waiting several hours in line is something most Western Europeans would be doing only when a a new Iphone comes out. Impressive.

Vucic either loses power or tries to steal the election and risks becoming an international pariah. The heavy deployment of Serbia's police, gendarmerie, and armored vehicles to key locations in Belgrade suggest he is laying the groundwork for the latter.

Once again, I live in Ukraine, and I have never met a soldier or a civilian who is fighting for Zelenskyy. ​Ukrainians resist because our country was invaded, because russian occupation means kidnapped children, executed civilians, torture chambers, mass graves, rape, and looting. Our soldiers defend their families, their culture, their civilians, and their future, not the president.

This US attorney is way outside his lane. The Constitution gives states the power to control elections. If he has evidence that a state is violating federal law, he can challenge it in court. Ethics laws forbid this kind of extra-judicial smear about a party in pending litigation.
