The Federal Government has moved to strengthen the financial sustainability of its student loan scheme, as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate cooperation on recovered funds and tighten accountability in the management of public resources.
The pact, signed in Abuja yesterday, came against the backdrop of President Bola Tinubu’s directive that all unencumbered liquid funds recovered by the EFCC be transferred to NELFUND to support the long-term financing of student loans.

For this @NELFUND beneficiary at ABU Zaria, the alert was more than money in her account it meant being able to support her mother, who had just moved into a new home, and help put her sister in school. Her words, “I was so impressed that day. I felt good,” capture the human impact of timely educational support. This is why initiatives like NELFUND matter: when support reaches students from families who need it most, the benefits extend beyond the classroom and ripple through entire households and communities. Kudos to President @officialABAT for championing an initiative that is giving students a helping hand when it matters most.
