Herein lies the value of framing. Over the course of a 162 game season there are close to 5,000 pitches that are just strikes or just balls. The run prevention value varies with the count. Catchers vary in their ability to convert these pitches.

Interesting blocking transition by the Brewers Danny Jansen. In 2024(1st video) he was a wide based traditional setup blocker & was one of baseball’s best blockers. In 2025 he transitioned into a knee down setup yet still is blocking at an elite level(98th%).

Mets Luis Torrens throw out. Like many of today’s most successful C’s throwing out R’s @ 2B,he makes a sideways transition move from his LKD stance 2 get early alignment 2 speed up his process.Torrens average exchange is .59 w/a 45% CS rate. He has saved 5 runs throwing R’s out.
