When I was growing up we had no money to buy books. All I had was my local library. I must have spent hundreds of hours in it. But for that library I might never have become a lawyer. 1,000 have been closed under the Conservative Gov’t. It’s almost like they don’t want us to read

I've just finished my debate in Parliament calling for a new mechanism to let ordinary people call a General Election when the Government has lost the support of the people. I'll be bringing a Bill on this soon too. Our democracy is not fit for purpose. We need serious change.
