Thanks and God bless you all now and forever. ❤️🙏
*The Transient of Public Power: A Reminder for Those Who Hold the Keys Today* Power in public office is a rented room, not a freehold. The lease is short. Four years, at most eight. Then the keys are collected, the curtains drawn, and the crowd that once crowded the corridor simply vanishes. Those who once walked as if the state itself bent to their stride discover, almost overnight, that the ground beneath them was never theirs. Look at the record. Diezani Alison-Madueke once controlled the petroleum purse of Africa’s largest oil producer and sat at the head of OPEC. Today she spends her energy in courtrooms, fighting to recover assets long seized while the industry she once dominated has moved on without her name on any door. Abubakar Malami, as Attorney General, was the gate through which justice, contracts, and high-level decisions were said to pass. He is now answering money-laundering charges, properties traced, family members named alongside him. Tunde Sabiu, the private secretary and nephew who ministers reportedly feared to cross, once made access to the President feel like a privilege he dispensed. Buhari’s own daughter has since spoken openly of how much power the position allowed him to accumulate. The gates he controlled no longer open at his command. These are not isolated stories. They are the recurring pattern from Obasanjo through Yar’Adua, Jonathan, and Buhari. Men and women who treated presidential proximity as personal capital, who used the seal of office to delay, to exclude, to extract, or simply to remind others of their own dispensability, later discovered that the capital expired with the administration. The same voices that once competed to praise them now compete to explain why they never truly belonged. The same contractors who queued for signatures now queue elsewhere. The same aides who carried bags and messages now carry them for the next beneficiary. Every government carries a terminal date written into the constitution and into the calendar. The day the new office holder is sworn in, the old phones stop ringing in the old order. Not gradually. Abruptly. The calls that once arrived before dawn with urgent requests, the invitations that filled every evening, the quiet offers of partnership that arrived because someone needed a name or a signature, simply cease. What follows is not only political irrelevance. It is a strange emptiness. Life becomes boring in a way the powerful rarely anticipate. The calendar that was once managed by others is suddenly empty. The people who sang loudest while the resources flowed do not linger to console. They migrate. Loyalty in those circles was never to the person. It was to the purse, the allocation, the contract pipeline, the ability to open or close a door. When that ability ends, so does the loyalty. This is why the wise refuse to play God inside the system. Public office is temporary stewardship, not private dominion. To use the office to freeze the growth of others, to keep files permanently pending, to ensure that only those who bow remain visible, is to build a record that outlives the tenure. Those records do not disappear when the administration ends. They become the material for investigations, for public memory, for the quiet satisfaction of those who were blocked. The same people who once needed a favour later remember who made the favour unnecessarily difficult. History is not kind to the gatekeeper who confused access with ownership. The test is simple and constant. While the phones are still ringing, remember they will one day stop. While the room fills when you enter, remember it will one day empty. While resources flow through your hand, remember the hand will one day be empty. Those who understand this early do not waste the years blocking others. They use the years to open paths, to settle matters cleanly, to leave institutions stronger than they found them, and to keep enough private dignity that the silence which

Pat Utomi was my client almost twenty years ago, and he paid me VERY handsomely, too. This photo of Professor Utomi and I was taken in 1999. I was twenty-four, going on twenty-five. He was forty-three and stepping into his role as Platinum Bank Chairman. Everything I am wearing in this photo was made in Nigeria from head to toe. Eight years after this photo was taken, he wrote and published a piece. From California, I corrected the grammatical, punctuation and lexical errors in the article and sent it to him along with my phone number. That same night, Mr Utomi called me in Alameda, California. He marvelled that I could correct his meticulously written opus, and thereafter, I became his consultant. One day, the late Chief Anthony Anenih said and did something that I felt was disparaging to Professor Utomi. I wrote a powerful, stinging response in Pat Utomi's name, and when he read it, he said to me, 'Chief Anenih has once been good to me, and no matter what he does against me, I will not be unfaithful to that goodness'. He instructed me to set aside what I had written down and said he would absorb the pain from Chief Anenih, just as he once absorbed the gain from him. Today, even if I disagree with Pat Utomi, I still live and learn from that principle he taught me. Yes, several people have brought up the 'Civil War' comment with me. I wish he had not said what he said. But 'Pat Utomi has once been good to me, and no matter what he does against me, I will not be unfaithful to that goodness'. I can say that Professor Pat Utomi is a good man, a patriot, and someone who has contributed to Nigeria's greatness. When His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is re-elected for a second term, there will be peace in Nigeria, and patriots like Pat Utomi will come around as they see their dreams for a better Nigeria, which is already coming to fruition, become even more glaring. @renoomokri Thanks Your Excellency. Much appreciated. ❤️🙏
Here's to wishing a happy 66th birthday to my friend and brother, His Excellency Ambassador Femi Fani-Kayode, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Republic of South Africa. To my brother from another mother, I wish the world knew you like I know you. A most loyal friend, who sticks closer than a brother and fights as Jonathan did for David for those he considers his allies. A man of inter generational greatness, which first reared its head with your great grandfather, the Reverend Emmanuel Adelabi Kayode, who attended and graduated with a Masters from Durham University in 1893, to your grandfather, Justice Victor Adedapo Kayode, who graduated from Cambridge with a law degree in 1922, to one of the greatest in the line, Chief Remilekun Fani-Kayode, who also graduated from Cambridge with a law degree in 1943 and from whom the baton passed to you, who graduated from Cambridge in 1984 with yet another law degree. It is hard, and maybe impossible, to find another family that has consistently contributed to the well of Nigeria's greatness and the brilliance of her star like the Kayodes. Today, I join many grateful Nigerians in saying not just happy birthday, but a well-deserved thank you to this two-time Minister, who stood up to Gaddafi and stood up for democracy. From the bottom of my heart, I join my family in wishing you the best birthday ever. Many happy returns, and may God bless your home. Bemigho Reno Omokri
So sad that you have no idea how Government works. If I were to say half the things that @Atiku did and said in Cabinet meetings and whilst in Government you may not be so enthusiastic about your continued support for him. If you really want to know his stance during the course of that discussion go and ask him. He is still very much alive. Meanwhile I will not be the one to expose what he said at the time. Even if I choose to it will not be on X and neither will it be at your instance.
My dearest brother @fkeyamo, Permit me to share the facts with you on this matter for posterity's sake. In fairness to President Obasanjo the Nigeria Airways "mess", as you have decribed it, was established before he came back to power in 1999. And it was indeed a mess but it was not of Obasanjo's making! He met it there after he was sworn in and what he found broke his heart. I, as Minister of Aviation from 2006 after being redeployed from being Minister of Culture and Tourism, can confirm that. The facts are as follows. When Obasanjo left power as Military Head of State in 1979 Nigeria Airways had a total of 32 functional planes, excellent pilots and crew members, a first class management team and an accountable Board of Directors. Nigeria Airways, at that time, was indeed the pride of the nation. By the time Obasanjo came back to power in 1999, 20 years later, there was only one plane left and it was not functional. The rest had vanished together with virtually all of the company's assets. Everything in the company had gone to the dogs. Worse still it was plagued with debts. Through those 20 years all forms of corruption were committed by the various management teams and Board of Directors of the company and it was literally gutted. The company was liquidated primarily due to chronic insolvency, operational collapse and mismanagement in its operations which took place between 1979 and 1999. The formal winding-up process culminated in 2004. The decision followed years of decline and failed rescue attempts, including privatisation advice from the International Finance Corporation which later withdrew. The 2004 liquidation was the endpoint of long-term structural failure driven by mismanagement, debt and operational collapse with the Obasanjo Government, rightly in my view, deciding against further public bailouts. This is why Obasanjo liquidated it in 2004 and I believe that he had no choice. There was nothing left to save even though it was a painful decision given the fact that he was one of those that had done so much for that company when he was Military Head of State. After liquidating the company the only issue left was pensions. After a commitee that was Chaired by Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, the then then Head of Service, recommended that money should be released and paid to the pensioners, as Minister of Aviation in 2006, I presented a memo to the Federal Executive Council for that purpose and argued strongly that this was the right thing to do. Sadly the memo was not approved because there were elements in the cabinet that were so angry with the the former Boards and management teams of the defunct Nigerian Airways that they opposed my memo vehemently. They believed that none of those that were part of Nigeria Airways deserved a pension because, as far as they were concerned, they ALL contributed to the destruction of what was once a great source of pride to our nation. I did not share that view but sadly I and those that supported me were in a minority and we lost the debate. The matter was deferred and taken up again by the Yar'Adua administration when they came to power two years later. They paid most of the pensioners which was the right thing to do. The Buhari administration followed suit and also paid. It is gratifying that under your leadership the remainder of the pensions have been paid. I only wish we had done that when we were in office. The pensioners suffered immensely over the years. I have always maintained that paying them was the right thing to do. As for His Excellency Waziri @atiku I know what side of the divide he was during that debate in council but I will not share that publicly because whatever decision was finally taken was a collective one. We bore and still bear the consequences of that decision together as a Government. I commend you as Minister of Aviation for finally settling the pensions that were still due. (FFK)
Your Excellency, Atiku Abubakar @atiku, this is hypocrisy at its peak! Let me just talk only about the sector that I head, Aviation. In September, 2004, when you were Vice-President, your Government woke up one morning and liquidated Nigeria Airways, throwing thousands of
