De oorlog in Oekraïne is één van voornaamste onderwerpen tijdens de AVVN. Met de winter in aankomst en de aanhoudende aanvallen vanuit Rusland op burgerdoelen en energie-infrastructuur, is het keihard nodig om de steun aan Oekraïne in stand te houden. Bijvoorbeeld als het gaat om luchtafweer en ondersteuning van de stroomvoorzieningen. Met president Zelensky sprak ik over wat Oekraïne op de korte termijn nog meer nodig heeft en wat Nederland en Europa hierin kunnen betekenen. Ook ging het over noodzakelijke hervormingen in Oekraïne en het belang van de versterking van de rechtsstaat en corruptiebestrijding. Nederland blijft onverminderd aan de zijde van Oekraïne staan. Voor de veiligheid van Oekraïne en daarmee voor de veiligheid van heel Europa.
