TINUBU AND @inecnigeria CANNOT HIDE 103 MILLION NAMES AND EXPECT NIGERIANS TO TRUST THE 2027 ELECTION — ATIKU Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has demanded the immediate publication of the preliminary voters’ register, warning that its absence from INEC’s online display during the announced October 9 to 15 scrutiny period raises grave questions about the integrity of the 2027 election. In a statement issued by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Atiku said: “INEC has announced more than 103 million registered voters. Nigerians went to its portal to inspect the names and found an empty page. That is an outrage. A figure cannot answer an objection. A press announcement cannot tell a voter whether her name has been omitted. Show Nigerians the register. “I cannot recall a more brazen invitation to distrust the voter register. INEC announced a seven-day exercise and then failed to make the register available on the portal provided for public scrutiny. Section 19(1) of the Electoral Act 2026 requires display at registration areas and online. INEC does not get to treat that requirement as optional. “Worse still, INEC’s chairman reportedly said on October 5 that the public display had already been completed. Nigerians were subsequently told it would take place from October 9 to 15. Which statement is true? Where was the register published? For seven full days, or for no days at all? INEC must produce the dates, the links and the records of access. “Section 63(2) of the Electoral Act 2026 permits a returning officer to count a ballot paper without INEC’s official mark if satisfied that it came from a book supplied to the polling unit. What evidence will establish that origin? Who will verify it, and how will parties challenge a false claim? Nigerians cannot be denied access to the voters’ register before election day and then be asked to accept unmarked ballot papers after voting. INEC must set out enforceable safeguards against counterfeit ballots, and the National Assembly must close any loophole that leaves the authenticity of a vote to an officer’s unsupported assurance.” To date, INEC has yet to respond to inquiries about the identity of the companies awarded contracts to print sensitive election materials. The ADC and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, are stakeholders in the upcoming presidential election and thus have the right to demand transparency from the electoral umpire about the protocols that will guide the election’s credibility. “Let me address Bola Tinubu directly: Nigerians are struggling to put food on the table, and too many are afraid for their lives and livelihoods. You will not add an unseen voters’ register to their suffering and call it a route to another four years in office. “You must face the people whose lives have become more expensive and less secure under your watch. You cannot hide their names from scrutiny and then ask them to trust the election conducted with that list. Nigerians have the right to inspect the register, challenge false entries and correct omissions. If that right is denied, we will challenge it in the open and through every lawful means available.
Today, I arrived at Abuja Airport from the United Kingdom at 5:30 a.m. and immediately connected to the 7 a.m. Enugu Air flight to Enugu to attend the funeral of late Ifeanyi Nwolie, who was laid to rest in his hometown of Afa, Udi Local Government Area, Enugu State. Late Ifeanyi Nwolie was one of my supporters who participated in the recent NDC party political activity marred by violence on October 10, 2026. Tragically, he was shot. His death is a painful reminder of the devastating human cost of our nation’s current toxic political environment. As we approach the 2027 general elections, I appeal to all candidates contesting at the federal, state, and local government levels to reject violence, ethnic division, and religious bigotry. Our campaigns and activities must be based on issues that will make our country better. Democracy thrives when citizens can freely express their political choices and participate in the electoral process without fear. The process through which we attain public office is more important than the office itself. My humble pledge to the mother is that God Almighty, whom it pleased to bring Ifeanyi home, has also given her another son in me to support her as Ifeanyi used to. A country’s greatest strength lies in the rule of law. When the rule of law is undermined, the door is opened to disorder and anarchy. We must work together to rebuild and restore a Nigeria where human life is valued above political ambition, and where every citizen can exercise their democratic rights in peace and safety. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO
Rebuilding Nigeria Yesterday, Wednesday, 21 October, I arrived in London at 7 a.m. from Basel, Switzerland. It was one of my busiest days, filled with several engagements, including meetings with stakeholders in the UK. I rounded off the day in the evening with a meeting organised by the COPDEM Chief and the NDC Director of Diaspora Affairs, bringing together other stakeholders in London. All the meetings with British government officials and the Nigerian diaspora centred on our collective responsibility to rebuild Nigeria and free our country from the shackles of bad leadership, corruption, and the lack of accountability that continue to undermine our national development. These challenges have deprived millions of Nigerians of access to basic necessities, including quality healthcare, education, and decent employment. Nigerians deserve a country where every life matters, where hard work is rewarded, and where every citizen has a fair opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or connections. We must build a Nigeria where the child of nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody. A country that works for everyone, not just a privileged few. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO
ENDSARS LEKKI TOLL GATE: NEVER FORGET OCTOBER 20, 2020 Today, October 20, 2026, marks the sixth anniversary of the Lekki Toll Gate shootings, a painful reminder of the price Nigerian youths paid in their demand for a better country. On that fateful night, peaceful #EndSARS protesters were met with gunfire. Lives were lost, many were injured, and the nation was left with questions about justice, accountability, and the sanctity of human life. We must never forget. We must never normalise injustice. As we remember the victims, I reaffirm my belief that a New Nigeria is possible—a country where citizens are protected, not brutalised; where young people are heard, not silenced; and where government power is exercised with responsibility and respect for human rights. Nigeria must become a nation where no citizen is punished for demanding good governance and a better future. May the souls of the departed continue to rest in peace. May their sacrifice strengthen our resolve to build a Nigeria where this tragedy will never be repeated. A New Nigeria is POssible. A Nigeria where every life matters. -PO

Celebrating the Clarissan Missionary Sisters: A Legacy of Faith and Service Heartiest congratulations to the Clarissan Missionary Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament on the momentous celebration of your jubilees, which commenced with Holy Mass today at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha. I rejoice with you on this special occasion as you celebrate decades of faith, dedication, and selfless service to humanity. Reflecting on our shared commitment to uplifting society through education and human development, I fondly recall my support for your school, Maria Inés College, Obosi, through the provision of buses and computers to enhance mobility and facilitate learning among your students. As you continue your apostolate of forming minds, nurturing character, and empowering young people, I encourage you to remain steadfast in your mission. I firmly believe that education is one of the most powerful instruments for building a just, prosperous, and inclusive society. By investing in our people, especially the younger generation, we are laying the foundation for a Nigeria where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Together, through faith, service, and a shared commitment to human development, we can build the new Nigeria of our dreams. A new Nigeria that is POssible and OK. -PO
The Jewish people’s right to their own state in their ancestral homeland is non-negotiable. Watch:
This “gospel” artist supports the government in power. He performed at their events and then died because eight hospitals rejected him after he slumped Before you come here preaching respect for the dead and throwing emotional tantrum, I want you to understand that politics is directly responsible for the dysfunction and poor quality of life we live with in Nigeria. His money and connections couldn’t save him. The government he supports and performed for failed to equip the hospitals and so he couldn't access healthcare when he needed it the most. So when the likes of Timi D Kolo, whose family is in the UK, tell you not to make enemies because of politics, please by all means insult and curse him, because he does not mean well for you. People need to understand that politics is a direct cause of many of the disasters and calamities that have befallen our country, and they should be cut off if possible. Politics is not a football bant. It's an existential affair that has very serious consequences on life. It does not matter how much money you have; you cannot escape the consequences of bad governance brought by the bad politics of the APC. So by all means, hold that grudge, because the reason you are living a low-to-mid life is the result of the nonsense that politics has caused. Specifically the Apc type of politics. No allow anybody gaslight you o
A litre of fuel in Libya costs ₦32, while the minimum wage in the country is $208, which is roughly ₦276,000. In Saudi Arabia, a litre of fuel costs approximately ₦823, while the estimated monthly minimum wage is ₦1.4 million. Norway, another oil-producing country, provides its citizens with numerous benefits funded by the proceeds from its oil revenues. In Nigeria, however, the minimum wage is ₦70,000, while a litre of fuel costs between ₦1,300 and ₦1,900 in some places. That minimum wage amounts to a mere $52, a young chap flipping burgers at McDonald's in the US makes more than a Nigerian bank manager. Anyone earning ₦100,000 a month in Nigeria is still struggling to make ends meet and may be closer to the poverty line than their counterparts in these countries. But does the President care? How does he even sleep at night, knowing that millions of Nigerians are struggling to survive in a country blessed with abundant natural resources?
Education Is the Foundation of a New Nigeria Education remains the most important tool for development and nation-building. It has been proven that the more educated a nation is, the better it develops. It has also been proven that the developing and developed nations of today are those that have invested in education, healthcare and pulling people out of poverty. Nigeria’s increasing poverty remains a consequence of not investing adequately in critical areas of development, especially education. Today, while observing the International Day of Rural Women, I visited Sheda and Sheda Galadima, in Kwali Area Council of FCT, where I was surprised to see a huge number of school-age children in the market environs on a school day. In my conversation with the children, I was deeply shocked to learn that they had been at home for over two weeks due to the teachers’ strike. So, while we are busy inaugurating campaign councils with pomp and pageantry and declaring economic miracles, our young children of school age are loitering in the streets because of a strike, in a nation with already over 18 million out-of-school children. It is time to put our children and the future of our country back at the centre of governance and government decisions. Under our leadership, investment in health and education, as well as pulling people out of poverty, will be our priorities. The relevant authorities should immediately ensure that our children in public schools return to school in the FCT. A New Nigeria is POssible, and Nigeria will be OK. -PO

Pope Leo XIV: A Prayer of Gratitude and Hope Yesterday, I kept Pope Leo XIV, the head of the Catholic Church and Sovereign of Vatican City, in my earnest prayers as he underwent surgery. I am grateful for the encouraging reports of his successful surgery and recovery. I thank God for seeing the Holy Father through this procedure and pray for his complete recovery, renewed strength and good health. May God continue to guide his medical team, sustain him in this period of recovery and grant him the grace to return fully to his pastoral duties. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO
Today's live media chat with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike involves at least eight broadcast outlets, including Arise, Channels, TVC, News Central, AIT, JDK, Aso TV & Radio, and ADBN. Wike has previously acknowledged that live television broadcasts are paid for. Channels Television has also reportedly confirmed that such airtime attracts fees. Now, consider the arithmetic. At an estimated ₦10m–₦20m per station per hour, eight stations broadcasting for two hours could cost between ₦160m and ₦320m per session. Over 12 monthly sessions, that translates to ₦1.92bn–₦3.84bn! FCT residents deserve to know how much is being spent on these broadcasts and how much airtime is devoted to FCT development, rather than Wike's political disagreements with Atiku, Amaechi, Obi, ADC and NDC. There is nothing wrong with a minister explaining his stewardship. But public resources must serve public purposes, not personal political battles. Atiku and Amaechi are not infrastructure projects. ADC and NDC are not departments of the FCT Administration. The 2027 elections are no substitute for accountability on Abuja's roads, water supply, schools, hospitals, sanitation and security. Minister Wike, publish the invoices. Identify the stations paid, the amounts, the funding sources and the relevant budget lines. FCT residents deserve to know whether their money is funding public accountability or political self-gratification. The FCT treasury is not Wike's personal political broadcasting account. Public office is not a licence to convert public funds into private political publicity.
Nigerians Must Not Be Abandoned to Disaster Risks As the global community observes the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction today, we must acknowledge that millions of Nigerians confront not only natural hazards but also avoidable crises resulting from governance failures. Throughout the country, citizens face flooding, insecurity, displacement, hunger, malnutrition, deteriorating infrastructure, increasing poverty, and the loss of livelihoods. Inadequate planning, fragile institutions, insufficient emergency preparedness, and the failure to place citizens’ welfare first have made everyday existence a disaster for many people. Although disasters cannot always be prevented, their effects can be limited through accountable leadership, early warning mechanisms, responsible land-use planning, durable infrastructure, efficient emergency services, and prompt humanitarian assistance. When governments fail to identify risks in advance or respond effectively to emergencies, the most vulnerable citizens bear the greatest burden. The success of governance should be judged not by revenue totals, economic indicators, or official ceremonies but by the people’s safety, dignity, and quality of life. No government can credibly claim progress while citizens are displaced by floods, abducted by criminals, forced into hunger, or left without protection from predictable threats. I urge governments at every level to pursue a people-focused approach to reducing disaster risks by investing in prevention, enhancing emergency response, ensuring accountability in the administration of disaster funds, and delivering prompt relief and lasting rehabilitation to affected communities. Nigeria must not accept avoidable suffering as normal. Protecting the safety, security, and welfare of our people is a core responsibility of government. We must create a nation in which sound governance limits risks, safeguards lives, and affords every citizen a fair opportunity to live in safety and dignity. Nigerians thoroughly insulated from the most severe effects of disasters is OK and POssible. -PO
One Month Discount on Petrol: From Reactive Policies to Flawed Outcomes! The announcement by the APC led Federal Government offering a 30-day discount on price of petrol to relieve the acute hardship and hunger caused Nigerians by its unplanned removal of subsidy can only be described as another very reactive and confused approach to governance that is now the culture of the Tinubu Government. I had delayed in reacting to the announcement just to give the benefit of doubt and watch the outcome of the policy. Now, having assessed the outcomes, the policy is a substitution of political optics for sound policy. As Nigerians will recall, President Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023, most carelessly removed fuel subsidy without any consultation or proper assessment of the negative impacts of such policies on our economy particularly on the livelihood of ordinary Nigerians. Moreover, the careless removal of fuel subsidy was followed by other very badly sequenced policies such as the floating of the naira and tax reforms, all implemented in a very disorganized, incompetent and insensitive manner in addition to using three budgets at the same time with the attendant lack of transparency and accountability. Collectively, these policies stoked inflation in all sectors, pushing in most cases unbearable price hikes across board which placed severe shocks and other adverse consequences on Nigerians. Expectedly, the outcomes are what they are- increasing multi-dimensional poverty, skyrocketing costs of goods and services, shrinking opportunities, exit of many businesses, mounting unemployment, disturbing insecurity, widening inequality, forced migration of our youths and general decline in the well-being of Nigerians. Most unfortunately, rather than engage in detailed and published regulatory impact assessment of their reactive policies, the President Bola Tinubu’s led government has again demonstrated their well-known incompetence and insensitivity to governance. With a detailed and published regulatory impact assessment of policies, a competent government would have pursued robust and sincere engagements and consultations with key stakeholders and ordinary Nigerians to recraft and implement inclusive and sustainable socio-economic growth strategies and policies. What really does the President Bola Tinubu led government want to achieve with a one-month discount of less than 5% on fuel cost. Will it reduce poverty, unemployment, insecurity, and inequality? Will it increase productivity and exports? Is it a test to ascertain if subsidy should be restored? Is it another political gambit in the face of threats of electoral loss in the 2027 election? Too many questions, no answer!
A TRIBUTE TO DR. WILLIAM OKOYE Today, I attended the funeral of a man I consider a true man of God, Dr. William Okoye, a man who dedicated his life fully and genuinely to the service of God and humanity. Dr Okoye was a pioneer Pentecostal pastor in what is today Abuja, dating back to 1985. He later served as the Aso Rock Chaplain for eight years during the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo. What stood out to me about his life was that, despite his proximity to power, he remained steadfast and, by all accounts, committed to his faith and calling without allowing the trappings of public life to define him. I also recalled our partnership during my time as Governor of Anambra State on a programme aimed at imparting virtues and values to young people. His commitment to raising a generation grounded in character and service was evident. In my remarks, I described him as a man whose life was a testimony to the fact that it is possible to be close to power without being consumed by it, and to serve God and humanity with sincerity and integrity. May God grant him eternal rest and comfort his family, church, and all those whose lives he touched. -PO
