One of my favorite Pokemon facts is that Sneasel has different colors than it normally does in Pokemon Gold and Silver, because it’s still using the color pallete of its beta design! Love when there are remnants of cut content like this still hiding in the games!

Because half the jokes of the casuals are about wanting to fuck the pokemon while we got stuff like this

Localizers will blatantly disrespect the Japanese source material and act as though it's clever and funny. Esti Erhard of Atelier's Arland trilogy is a great example of turning a character into a complete joke by making her name a play on STD. Somehow, practices like this are considered a professional job in the world of localization, which is all that is needed to demonstrate the low standards of the industry and with how little respect Japanese media is treated via localizers. This should never be acceptable.

I've just learnt, while the boys are reading Malfoid rn, the girls were reading fanfic about Draco graping a mindwiped Hermione in a Handmaid's Tale repopulation program and it was republished as a legally distinct dark romantasy called "Alchemised" that sold over a mil last year

Side note: a VAST majority of the responses were positive, and you guys are lovely and great. But I absolutely did receive tons of toxic responses in DMs too lol. Most populated my DMs have ever been. Let them stay mad.

"What was your biggest impact on the internet?" Being the artist behind Black Angewomon, and then after receiving hundreds of racist comments about "blackwashing", I revealed I was white. 🫶

Dawn of Sorrow fun fact: the Yorick soul, while weak on its own, has a hidden mechanic where if you time a slide kick to hit the skull, it'll multiply the damage it does like crazy

I was leading Heinz Ketchup when Dip N Squeeze came out. It was a massive upgrade from ketchup packets. Consumers LOVED it. Problem was we couldn’t get any of the big fast-food players on board. Dip N Squeeze was 3-5x (I forget the exact numbers) more expensive than packets, and they were free for customers. The key question was “does having Dip N Squeeze drive more volume?”, thus justifying the incremental cost. It was nearly impossible to prove. Every penny matters to these operators, so every sales meeting was the same. “We love it, but no.” Chick Fil A was the only yes. They didn’t need “proof”. They operated under the assumption simply giving their customers a better experience would pay off in the long run. Incremental cost be damned. Their conviction was impressive. They viewed every decision thru the lens of their customer. A much different approach from the other big players. I assume they treated countless other decisions the same way. This was ~15 years ago. CFA has been on quite the run since. (separate but related, I believe being a private co is a massive competitive advantage for CFA)

A casino installed a smart fish tank in the lobby. Beautiful thing. Automated feeding. Temperature control. Remote monitoring. Connected to the internet. Obviously. Hackers found it. Exploited it. Downloaded the high-roller database. 10 gigabytes. Sent it to Finland. Using audio and video protocols so it looked like normal streaming traffic. The fish tank sat in the lobby maintaining water chemistry while stealing credit card numbers. The casino isolated the fish tank on its own VPN. Separate network. Segregated. Off limits to everything. Hackers didn't care. Broke through the isolation anyway. Once inside the fish tank's system. They pivoted to the main network. Quietly pulled data. Methodically. 10 gigabytes over time so nobody noticed. Nobody monitors fish tank outbound traffic. Why would they. It's a fish tank. When Darktrace finally investigated they saw it immediately. The fish tank sending massive amounts of data to an external IP. Using protocols designed for audio. Not data. Clear exfiltration. The only device in the entire casino that ever communicated with that Finland server. A fish tank. Not a computer. Not compromised credentials. Not a malware-laden email. A networked aquarium. The lesson everyone learned: IoT devices are security theater. You can secure them. Lock them down. Isolate them. They're still connected to something. Still vulnerable to something. And something will find them. Even if that something is just checking if a fish tank is running the default password.
