A Lizard That Might Be Evolving Before Our Eyes
Australia’s three toed skink is giving scientists a rare peek at how evolution could unfold. Some groups still lay eggs while others give birth to live young, and one female was even recorded producing both in a single pregnancy.
Gene studies show that egg laying skinks switch on many of the same pregnancy related pathways used by live bearing ones. This hints that their reproductive system is more flexible than once believed.
Researchers are careful to say the species is not proven to be mid transition, but the evidence suggests it could be an early stage example of how animals shift from eggs to live birth. For now, this tiny skink remains one of the most intriguing stories in modern evolutionary biology.
🚀 Congratulations to the ISRO family on the successful launch of GSLV-F16 carrying the NISAR satellite!
A remarkable Indo-US collaboration, NISAR stands as a symbol of years of dedication by ISRO and NASA teams—blending cultures, technologies, and capabilities for a mission that will transform Earth observation.
This is not the first, and certainly not the last. India’s space journey has been shaped by visionary international partnerships—
📡 SITE with the USA, Russia and France
First INSAT with Ford Aerospace, USA
Vikas engine with SEP France,
SARAL & Megha-Tropiques with CNES, France
Chandrayaan-1 with global payloads,
Cryogenic tech from Russia,
Axiom-4 mission to ISS from USA
Each partnership taught us, challenged us, and helped us reach higher.
With upcoming missions like Chandrayaan-5 with JAXA, Japan and TRISHNA with CNES, India continues its journey of meaningful global cooperation.
Let’s build on this legacy under Hon. PM’s Space Vision 2047, to have more meaningful partnerships to power a self-reliant, globally integrated Viksit Bharat. 🇮🇳
